Abandoned lines least likely to be reinstated.

Halifax- Ovenden- Queensbury/Bradford We lost our line pre Beeching before the urbanisation that led to my house and many others being built in the 60s/70s

More Delay for HS2, and how should we proceed?

If Euston is delayed by 3 years where does this leave Manchester, the North and HS3/NPR? I'm 53- will I be dead before it opens if it ever does xx?

    New Station calendar

They're all speculative because IMHO 95% of the business cases will be rejected either by DfT or Treasury given current financial restraint

    Closing the gap in Bradford

I'm not convinced. Largely because I think 95% of people are put off by having to change trains even without luggage

    Closing the gap in Bradford

I live in Halifax. To me anything that speeds up Leeds- Halifax, Bradford- Halifax- Manchester, Leeds- Calder Valley stations and Huddersfield- Calder Valley stations connectivity is welcome

    Closing the gap in Bradford

I always thought the penalty was 7 minutes (2 minutes in, 3 minutes for the crew to change ends and 2 minutes out). But I'm sure someone will correct me

    CrossNorth Programme

But STM is a crayonista vehicle for a 16 year old with no official status and no access to funding for any of its projects. I wish it well but don't see it making much progress
  8. G

    CrossNorth Programme

It won't because there is no money and it has no official backing

    CrossNorth Programme

Is the Lords as pro HS2 as the Commons? And isn't this just 2a? Thought 2b which includes Manchester hasn't started its passage yet? Can anything get Royal Assent before the election ? 1674143435 Harry Burr is 16. George Marshall is a University student. So not much
  10. G

    CrossNorth Programme

but there isn't the money for any of this. I back it but it's still pie in the sky

Woking - Basingstoke (near Hook) landslip (15/01/23)

Realtime trains shows no through service to London from Basingstoke With Basingstoke- Reading, Salisbury/Exeter/Yeovil, Woking , Portsmouth and Weymouth/Poole services running No service at Fleet, Winchfield and Hook stations I wonder how long that plan will carry on for ?

It would be nonsensical to not grade-separate Wigston North Jn and four-track from there to Syston as part of the MML electrification programme.

Presume that won't happen for at least 15 years so has no bearing on current planning. If there is any in the current financial climate

    Proposed reopening of Stoke-Leek Line

My view is still that there is zero chance of this or any other new build RYR scheme being funded. Especially in the current financial climate
  14. G

    NPR will it ever happen?

Given that none of this is likely to be funded it's moot anyway. It was too expensive 10 years ago and things have got worse unless I missed something
  15. G

The revised West Midlands rail strategy.

Is any of this likely to be funded?

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Bradford, Halifax, Hull, Middlesbrough, Rochdale, Sheffield should all have been wired 30 years ago IMHO as should Manchester- Sheffield and Leeds- Sheffield and possibly Newcastle- Carlisle. I guess whether any of them get done now is a very moot point given the finances

Would Closed Rail Links In England Reopen?

I thouight York to Whitby via Pickering had been in journey planners and on RTT for some time. Unfortunately it's in dire danger of being withdrawn as a commercial route by Transdev in April.

Would Closed Rail Links In England Reopen?

i would think about putting Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike back on the railway and improving Bradford- Wakefield direct connectivity Also Barnsley to Doncaster via Wath maybe should be considered
  19. G

    NPR will it ever happen?

The Bradford schemes and the tunnel aren't happening because they were dismissed as too expensive. Pretty sure the tunnel was £8bn and the Bradford scheme was an extra £8bn on top of the agreed scheme in IRP
  20. G

    NPR will it ever happen?

Where's the funding for this or the proposed tunnel scheme coming from ?
