DB Schencker (Formerly EWS) own the 37. Where have you been for the past few months??
37425 is currently froth central since both repainted DBS tractors 670+419 went pop.

Why have 37 425s horns been moved onto the 'bonnet'?

I know 37s horns are crap anyway but surely this won't make much difference?!

The roof mounted horns restrict the use of Class 37s along the GE electrified lines as an incident occurred within the last 12 months when the horns on a Class 37 caused a flashover to OHL equipment that was sagging in the heat, resulting in the wires coming down.

Sorry, but this means....?

It doesn't turn a wheel without it been reported on gen sites/lists by someone.

Froth is enthusiast term for over excited, etc

As for the air horns they never had a problem on the GE before and surely the DRS ones still have roof mounted horns? and they are over there at present on the RHTT work

I was led to believe that it was to do with limited clearance on some roots around sheffield/Leeds where the 37's were going to work the RHTT's but NR gave restricted clearance to the 66's to work these restricted routes so the RHTT job for the tractors never came off

THe OHL equipment on the GE was designed to be in fixed tension and over the years the wires have stretched and become thinner with wear, as a result during warm weather the wies expands and then hangs down towards the kinematic envelope.

A number of restrictions were placed on the use of 37s last summer.

As far as i know it was also for possible use on the Yorkshire RHTT,they had to be Nose Mounted (or in the nose) as there is a tunnel restriction, however the 66's/67's were given dispensation........

Nice shot btw!
Cheers,
Mark
