We do and that has been driven into us since the Georgia Varley incident. However, this is incredibly difficult to enforce on certain lines out of fear of assault. Particuarly the Southport and Kirkby lines are dreadful lines to run. I also know many Wirral line guards who have told me terrbile stories of the last train from West Kirby (The line on which Georgia Varley boarded from). Although I imagine that they all are pretty similar. And to top it off, I have only been working for the company after the start of the year, and I already know what to expect

Oh yes, I remember the tunnel tw1t now. Surprised it took them so long to sort that one out actually. Don't BTP have dogs?
.

He was found asleep in the middle of one of the tunnels. Took a while to wake him up apparently. Not particularly easy to find without walking through on foot - dogs wouldn't have helped resolve it any quicker. From the first report to all clear was about 90 mins. There's a thread on the incident on here somewhere.

Kind of makes a mockery of those "We CAN say no" posters then, if you can't prevent them getting on the train whatever state they are in. In the Varley incident she was already on the train, so that's a bit different.

Haha, that announcement practice made me laugh. I could do better announcements than some of them!

I'm sure it doesn't mean anything, but you'd never guess that Northern serve Southport from that film would you?

The station that Varley borded is on a curve (Manor Road) so perhaps Chris Mcgee didnt see the state that she was in. Its a possibility.

The posters are promoting the Travel Safe scheme where by Carlisle Security firm are used to support us and to control safety. However, I rarely see them on late trains, more so just the trains on the middle of the day which are mostly used by old women and students. They rarely ever get on the busy peak trains.

Its similar to what Northern are doing with G4S, however they can sell tickets (often incorrectly)

I didnt like how they subbed some sounds into the shots of the 507/8s such as the brakes squeeling sounded more like a 156 and there was a shot in Sandhills station where there was clearly an AC hum instead of the normal resistor fan that you can hear.

You didn't hear last weeks Pendolino pulling out with a diesel engine then? Sounded like a Sprinter!

Ah, you're missing the 1/2 of a pacer in the background that was on screen for about 20 seconds ;)

You know, I think the ratio of staff swearing to passenger swearing has been about 1:1 by representation!

I was more on about film crew or passengers... I think the attack on Derek (RPI) was dreadful. He is a very fair RPI for MR and always speaks to passengers with respect...

I liked the way in this week's episode the Scouce member of the BTP immediately escorted the swearing passenger away from the station, in contrast to at Euston in last week's (and mentioned on here). Good on him.

Thought the atw cleaners came across much better in this ep than the kings x one.

Does anyone know if the man in the signal box has now gone?

I would assume so, with the Kings Cross shots still using the old concourse! Assuming they were all filmed around the same time...

The Orange Lodge are a complete PITA !

Someone once described an Orange march as a bit like a jumble sale on the move. Bet if you asked most of them what they were supposed to be commemorating they could not tell you.

The narrator said, (with regard to the trespasser incident), that there are 18 million such incidents logged per year. That would be over 2000 every hour, so I think someone got their figures wrong.

Otherwise as others have said, I found it very disjointed.

I was into it until they 'filled in the gaps' with another look at KGX. Really good up until that part! Thought Merseyside was shown in a bad light as I know it very well and can vouch for 99% of the people are brilliant. The RPI's were very good as was the BTP.

It's a shame there's only one episode left, although I know there's at least two more railway based productions going on right now.

Enjoyable episode last night. Living in Glasgow I was well surprised to see another orange walk in the country, I didn't know these type of people (being polite here) marched anywhere else! However I was most amazed at the damage caused to the Communications box in Wales I was literally stunned and wondered how on earth NR can stop it happening again once they fix it! The wife said they'll have to put up cameras but I thought the scumbags would probably nick them too!

A few things that I noticed about the part on Kings Cross:

- A passenger was told (or it was implied) their seat reservations would be honoured on the train the day after the one that was cancelled. Somehow I doubt it.

- When a passenger wanted their money back due to their train being cancelled, the station manager wanted them to fill in a form to post off, but should have seen whether it was possible to do the refund on the spot under NRCoC S.26.

And of course it cast a bad light on the passengers in Merseyside. I'm glad I don't work there on a Friday/Saturday evening :)

Then there was the RPI talking about how many 'fines' issued by him, as well as staff at King's Cross saying to someone that if they had any problems to say someone on the platform had said it was okay!

Then there was the RPI talking about how many 'fines' issued by him,

He used the word "penalties", never referred to fines or fares.

Although to take into perspective, as he was referring for a period of 12 months, assume he works 5 day weeks with 8 hour shifts, it equates to only 6 a day, or one every 1hr 20mins.

Near the end. Definitely said how many fines personally issued.

However, I'd accept that it might have been a reference to further action taken that resulted in a fine from a court (as you might hope from the video just shown), but most viewers wouldn't know the difference and will continue to think that RPIs can issue fines.

I am sure it's an easy mistake to make. I've heard FCC RPIs refer to the £20 PF as a fine, and I'm sure staff do all over the country every single day. You'll also note that in the programme, one RPI didn't make any attempt to correct a passenger that opted to pay the 'fine'.

Perhaps the industry would quite like people to think of a penalty fare as a fine?

I wanted to know why the signalbox was being demolished in the first place and CCTV set up for that particular crossing, that wasn't explained at all in the film, nor, whether the Gentleman was made redundant, or, was offered another position within NR, very poor documentary to miss out vital information like that, yet, the viewer spends time watching a little old lady dash across the crossing when the lights started flashing, and the visitation of NR big-wigs to meet the locals, all 10 of them and a dachshund named Colin.
I had to smile when the NR Project Manager stated, that the opposition to the new crossing was aesthetics-based infrastructure, what did they really expect from the Oxfordshire NIMBY's.

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

I thought the programme showed just how important it was to get rid of the man (no disrespect to the man himself, as I'm sure he was doing a proper job) simply because that old lady thought it okay to just walk through the red lights because he'd stop the train!!

I would hope that he'd be offered a job elsewhere, as such changes wouldn't happen overnight and so NR would have plenty of time to manage the HR aspect.
