It's not ideal, but not the end of the world either.I'd not want to share with someone I didn't know - close friends are bad enough and if I've had a few pints and start snoring they might not let me leave alive![]()

What date? I just had a quick look and a First flexible ticket was only £205.
Edit: Have you considered getting a supplement for the date in question - £75 for a solo berth.
Erm... I think the fact that people book shared cabins indicates that they can't have that much of an issue with it. Curious as to why you think it is as much of an issue as you do?
Next time I use the sleeper I'll be booking a shared cabin - and I also have stayed in hostels.
I feel like the people who don't like shared cabins are simply telling those of us who are fine with them that we're mad and wrong- and not actually suggesting any sort of alternative to the arrangement? I mean obviously if you don't like it you can book a 1st class cabin, take a day train or maybe fly?
I live life on the basis that most people are decent. So far I haven't been murdered. You must be very very brave to sleep with any old bugger who could well be rifling through your possessions as soon as you're snoring..

Staying on the sleepers has been there since they started. If you don't want to share then you pay for a since supplement.
Could be a lot worse, on continental trains in couchettes you share with 5 other passengers.

Just been on line to book sleeper berths to Fort William and back for the week of 17-21st October. Booking only to Ardlui and return is the same. Any reason why? What transport available to and from Ardlui and what about travel onward to Mallaig?

If I'm reading that correctly, then serco aren't providing any alternative road transport for any station between Glasgow and Corrour. Is that correct and if so, is it allowed?

Bit difficult laying on road transport to Corrour!
Not sure why the laugh, you *can* collect from any station as long as you have the correct code.I'm sure I'll sort out the ticket when I get to London. Any booking office shall be able to sort it out with the right code. (Ha Ha).
It must have changed in the last few months as I never had any problems using it in the past. The site for the Caledonian Sleeper has to be the most awful I've come across in a long time, and believe me I do a lot of travelling around the world and on some really strange airlines and other travel companies.
Indeed, and I could forgive Rannoch too, however Bridge of Orchy down to Tarbet are on the A82, and stations south of there on the A814.
Perhaps nobody is currently booked from those stations?
No. As Hadders said, between Fort William and Edinburgh it is a 'day train' so anyone can board with or without a reservation.I thought it was compulsory reservation though so the only place you could turn up and get a reservation would be Fort William?
I accept that in practice thats what happens but even the Scotrail timetable which only shows between Edinburgh and Fort William has it down as compulsory reservation. I suggest that if you turn up on spec you are not entitled to compensation.No. As Hadders said, between Fort William and Edinburgh it is a 'day train' so anyone can board with or without a reservation.
Yes it still is, as far as I know. It's in the Franchise Specification that they accept passengers on a walk-on basis for this section isn't it?
That sounds about right as there's limited space - so if you turn up at Corrour with a group of 20 looking to board you may well be out of luck.Just asked Cally Sleeper on twitter and was told that boarding the sleeper between Kingussie and Inverness and Glasgow and Fort Bill would be at the Train Manager's discretion on a walk up ticket....

I don't know about their site specifically, but on most other sites it is two hours.Sorry if this has been asked before but this is a long thread.
On the website how long is a seat tied to an online 'order' for?
