Isn't that just because December 2022 is the standard timetable change date rather than a hidden sign that the 315s will remain in service that long?
I dont think they'll even be in service that long. There's only a handful of units and they might well decide to double quick these to Newport.

315s apparently diagrammed until December 2022 according to a FOI released today. Could change however as through EL services expected by autumn.

Crossrail Class 315 unit diagrams
I’ve heard they’re being retained until then for the proposed Gidea Park peaks - EL drivers on the Shenfield branch told me the date keeps on getting extended, is 345 reliability really that poor?

It's close to the bottom of the table, especially the nine cars. The 315s are still way better.

Been travelling on them since they were introduced and never noticed anything major in all honesty, worst I’ve had is a faulty PIS! Had more 315s fail on me recently than 345s.

There's only one meaningful diagram - one of the other units does one AM peak passenger service, and the other rotates back to Ilford. All that could be theoretically taken up by just one 345 considering the 315 AM service finishes at 0845 and doesn't start again (on a different diagram) until 1538. They've not got long left, and driver competency is reducing too.

They will finish in September this year. This is from a MTR source

Since changed to December according to another MTR source.
Possibly booked to September 2022.
Then to December 2022 Standby like 317s at the momment.
But buyer be aware ie they could go for withdrawal as soon as possible after September? However another waiting game I suppose of wait and see.

The window is between September and April next year, so anything’s a possibility.

My understanding is the final 315 is still planned for September 2022. There are so few 315’s in service now there are fewer drivers that now sign 315’s. I spoke to the driver who will be operating the final journey a few weeks ago and he was told September. Obviously things can and do change

Nice to see the 315s still going strong. I've seen 837+857 at Liverpool Street 5 minutes ago

I read on the website for the class 315 preservation society that they are still looking for a unit to preserve and do a full restoration on it.

They had originally planned to preserve 315820 but that fell through and as a result they are trying to get another unit secured for preservation.

Yeah 820 went for scrap sadly. As far as I know one is still set to be preserved, think I heard somewhere that it might be 853 but that's not confirmed.

It would be nice for a Brush-motored set to be preserved (315837 or 838) just for completeness as a GEC-motored 313 and 507 are expected to be saved.

The scheduled lease expiry window for the remaining 315s is now '1st Dec 2022 - 1st April 2023' according to Eversholt's latest 'Rolling stock available for lease and/or disposal' chart (it was 30th September 2022 - 1st April 2023): https://eversholtrail.co.uk/app/upl...ble-for-lease-and-or-disposal-17-Aug-2022.pdf.

Whether this means the 315s stay in service until at least December remains to be seen, but they clearly aren't planned to go off-lease for a few months yet.

Email from Havering Council. From Sunday 6th November, trains from Shenfield will work through to Paddington. Does this spell the end for the 315s? Boo hoo.

Yes all Shenfield workings will go into the core, apart from one very early and one very late.
There will still be the following Gidea Park workings into platform 17 at Liverpool Street , which could still be 315s:

2C59 0743 Gidea Park to London Liverpool Street arr 0815
5C60 0838 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park C.H.S. arr 0910

2C73 0813 Gidea Park to London Liverpool Street arr 0845
5C74 0921 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park C.H.S. arr 0952

3C62 1630 Gidea Park C.H.S. to London Liverpool Street arr 1716
2C62 1735 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park

3C76 1720 Gidea Park C.H.S. to London Liverpool Street arr 1752
2C76 1804 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park

I know that the 315s are only working during the week. However can someone advise where they are stabled over the weekend please?

I know six remain and would guess that most, if not all, are at Gidea Park?

I’m aiming to be in London on Saturday and would at least like to clear them for site before they are scrapped

From memory it’s one train at Aldersbrook sidings, one at Shenfield sidings and one at Ilford depot. But that’s not set in stone and can vary

Good to know though, thanks everyone

315847 and 315856 were working the evening services tonight.

I also spied 315853 plus A N Other at the sidings under the flyover before Ilford station, which I’m guessing is Aldersbrook Sidings(?).

Couldn’t see the third pair.

Afternoon all. I know there's about 8 sets left in the fleet but do we know when their last date of service will be or is that still tight lipped at the moment?

There are only six. Withdrawal date unknown, but it sounds like the extra coaches to extend one of the 7-car 345s have arrived at Old Oak Common. Through running on 6 November is a possible end point - eg Friday 4 November is the last day of the current timetable.

I talked to the driver of a 315 at Liverpool Street at few weeks ago. He said one was definitely going to be preserved, but didn't know which one.
