15 out yesterday, I think six pairs and three singles. Back up to five booked pairs including the 1837 LST-CMB express. They are certainly going out in style.

Do the 317s usually start from Liverpool Street or Stratford? I only ask as I expected to see some at the former this afternoon but there weren’t any about; maybe just unlucky?

Both. Yesterday 2 x Liverpool Street to Hertdord East diagrams were operated by 317s along with 4 Liverpool Street to Cambridge diagrams. At least one pair of 317s was operating Stratford to Bishops Stortford/Meridian Water diagram..but there may have been more on there. Not sure what time you were at Liverpool Street but the 1312 1328 1342 1428 and 1458 1512 1542 1558 1656 1712 and 1742 departures would all have been 317s.

You were unlucky! They are most common on the Liverpool Street to Cambridge line now with three or four of the seven off peak sets being covered by them. 1328, 1458 and 1558 off LST all booked 317s this week. Is it half term in England this week? The 0628 LST-CBG school kid wedge out was a single class 317 yesterday.

There seems to be a pair in Aldersbrook sidings today?
317341+317885 moved there on the 16th. Not sure if they are dead or merely freeing up space at Ilford. In the past, 317s have run from storage at Harwich straight into service so anything is possible.

Yes. Also as well dont forget mtr crossrail use it for 315 between revenue service runs as well and go into service again.
Hopefully they run again soon.

Heard from a GA driver today that they are expecting to keep the current 317s until August now. Not sure how true this is.

Greater Anglia might as well just admit they are never leaving That’s not a bad thing though
Indeed but with 720's increasing at the rate of 1 a week are 321's or 317's the target for removal or are they going for strengthening at the moment.

there was a pair - didn't note numbers, but one had red doors and the other blue - on Ely/Cambridge to Stansted services today (with Ely-Norwich shut)

Seems a pair of 317s are doing the 5:40 SX diagram since I have seen over the past 2 days

Pretty sure I saw that just past Feltham I was on a 458 up from Windsor.
What's happening to those units?
Scrap, they’ve been stored at Ely for an eternity I think and even if someone had a use for them I’d imagine the amount of work needed makes them highly unlikely to return.

Actually at first when I was coming the other way I thought it was a 315 in there but as it passed I looked out the window at it as I had a road learner driving.
Thanks.

Likely scrap - a lot of trains have met their fate at Eastleigh already
Ah, I didn't know that was being done at Eastleigh.

Such a shame to see the ex Stansted Express units going.
I had several rides on them last spring which I enjoyed but to be honest they were pretty run down. I don't think any of them had working heaters in the motor cars or the first class areas. Given that last April was one of the coldest on record, that wasn't great. Given that their PRM deadline was the same as the other non PRM units, with hindsight keeping a few 317/6 until May would have been the better option.
