Interesting that this move requires brake force vehicles for the move and its a long trip at 40mph.

Probably the unit involvolved has a brake fault, so has had the brakes isolated. A similar move took place last year when the final 365 was taken to Newport with its brakes isolated.

Some of those units have been there for more than a year. 317344 plus whatever it is attached to, for example.

Not sure what the problem is with 5Q76 today but it was delayed near Stevenage early this morning for almost 2 hours and is now stopped at Slough, at a stand for about 1 hour 40 minutes currently.

Fire at Maidenhead. Everything stopped this morning.

interesting to see that 317344 has not faired well at all whilst at Ely. Brake fault. Cab door open (odd on a move like this, you’d think it would have been closed or a makeshift barrier put there) and what sounded a lot like a substantial air leak from the rear DT in the video I’ve seen of it passing Patchway.

This week's scrap run from Ely is to Kingsbury with translators/brake force. Be interesting to see whether it's 317s or...

Why is the move tomorrow coming through London? Surely there's an easier and quicker way to get to Kingsbury, like going along the crosscountry lines through Peterborough and Leicester? I'm guessing there's a problem with that or it wouldn't work because otherwise they'd have done it?

May be to do with driver availability & route knowledge?

According to the rail-record website the loco hauling it has failed and it is most likely cancelled

317884 and 886 are today’s unlucky units!

Thanks for those, I happen to be out in the Midlands today and I'm going to try and see this :)

I can confirm 886 has gone, as I didn't go and see this after all however I saw 37800 looking amazing and the cab end of 317886 as I passed on a pair of Voyagers this evening :)

502 + 504 en-route to Kingsbury for the chop.

Tbh I’m surprised they’re not headed to the usual location of Sims Metals Newport, guess they must be busy chopping up other stock
