When will the 378/2s get their turn for this refresh?
Anyone know what went the other way?

Presumably the A on the end of the roof number denotes the A end of the unit?
What's the operational use for the roof number? It's in large type, so it'll be visible from quite an elevation- I know TfL buses also have roof numbers
Correct, it's showing DMOS A, can't say what the reasoning is for it though.
Overall, I can't help but think it's rather unnecessary given TfL's precarious financial situation

I can only assume it's because they want all Overground stock to carry the current branding and look sharp when the 710s are introduced.
Most of the engineering staff were TUPEd over to TfL when the new concession started. Not true. Any maintenance from major overhauls like train refurbs or Bogie Overhauls to daily cleaning and train preps are done in house by Bombardier themselves at either Willesden Junction Depot, New Cross Gate Depot or in the case of preps everyday set sidings and station localions around London.
Units refreshed currently are: 135,136,147,150. No other units currently at ilford.
If they were trying to match the 710s they’ve messed up the car ends. On the 710s the black window band does not wrap around the ends of the cars, but on this new 378 livery it does.
Seems like an oversight.
I believe that was the case - I'm sure I recall a 378 being shown in a livery with a black/orange front end briefly before it was modified.I think the paint job would look a lot better if they were able to paint the front end orange like the 710s. Maybe this was the intention but they couldn't get it cleared through the ORR. Perhaps it's still the intention eventually.
Agree. But I was referring to the non-cab ends, which don’t match the 710
