So you're not saying on the off chance that someone else on this forums gets on the same train as you and steals your seat? Niceeeee.

Not really, we all have our favourite places to sit or stand I'm sure others here have their preferred places on these trains.

It's probably the two tip up seats in the disabled area - they're the only two soft seats on the whole train...;)

Actually it's more the furthest to one end, it's a cosy little compartment tat looks 1st Class but isn't, what tip up seats? I've walked though there and hadn't noticed any....

Where the big disabled area is, there are two tip up seats, one on each side. They're about three times the depth of the rest of the seats and are properly soft and padded.

^^ 110 was coupled to 308 this morning when it went through Norwood Junction.

The outside displays are terrible on these things.

You mean 38 u 110 was with 387108. I was on them this morning.

Outside display is better as it shows details clearer with more info as they are larger (Two levels) on the front. Sides is fairly the same but high res screen meaning its clearer.

yeah have notice the 2nd line on the 387s on the displays on the front should the "via" route.

Annoying I assume the 377/6s and 7/s have the software available to do the same for metro routes but southern have yet to sort that out.

Strangely its Southern who do the 387 software too.

Aye. God knows why I typed that. 2 line screen just looks odd and doesnt seem to fit right imo

But I also wish it wrapped the text when there isn't a via. I sometimes get a 387 terminating at Elephant & cast (or similar) on the front. Looks silly with the second line beneath it blank

I saw a solitary 387 (I think 118) going to Bedford this morning at Blackfriars - it was at about 8:30 and I think it may have been 1W81. As per the latest diagrams I think this was not meant to be run by a 387. Can anyone shed some light on what may have happened?

387 pair spilt to cover its own working and a 319s from Brighton due to stock displacement. They go back to a pair upon arrival at Bedford.

Thank you. I thought it may be something like that. Unsurprisingly it was rather packed.

Very belatedly, had a short ride in a 387 last Wednesday.

I sat in the bay of 2 opposite the luggage rack in First Class, and noticed how much more legroom there was compared to equivalent seats behind the bulkhead in a 377/1-3. I suppose this is in part, or whole, a consequence of using thinner seats, which is also the way the car industry is going.

Anyway, per class 377/6 and 377/7, I find the seats ergonomically good and comfortable enough for a London-Brighton run, although probably a bit posterior-numbing if you were doing, say, Brighton-Luton.

Goes to show the 700s are some armrests and seat-back tables away from being acceptable trains.

I know this isn't specifically 387 related but I didn't want to start a new thread.

As the 387 and next year 700's replace the 319s. Have all the 319s got somewhere to go or will some of them become spare?

The reason I ask is Southern appear desperately short of stock so could some of the 319's going spare be used on say Coastway routes to allow 377's to be freed for London Services that are 4 or 8 coach trains in the peak be extended to 12.

Or is it just they won't be available quick enough?

Of the 319s to be cascaded so far, we have 20 units allocated to Northern and 7 to LM to replace the 321s bound for ScotRail. This leaves 59 available but I don't imagine we will see much more of a cascade until the Thameslink Class 700 fleet comes into service.

The last thread for a general-purpose Thameslink cascade 'brainstorm' was indeed a while back, if there is any more you would like to discuss I suggest splitting into a new topic :)

Surely we must expect more 319s cascaded for at present there are only 14 diagrams and the 387/1 fleet will soon total 29

By the way folks, current 387 situations is as follows

101-104 - at Derby
105-109 - in service
110/111 - commissioning Three Bridges depot
112-124 - in service
125-127 - at Lovers Walks getting ready for service
128/129 - at Derby

No units are on commissioning at Bletchley currently.

The 319s are pretty much going as soon as. Lets not forget Northern isn't supposed to have its 20 units until July. Also you need to allow four weeks between being released and going off route as required by the ITT. Also that GTR us hiring three 319s back to cover the fleet while 6x 319 are technically Southeastern's and loaned back to Thameslink in exchange for 377s.

What spare 319s? All the off lease ones are taken. And they cannot be used on Coastway as you need 6 car trains in peak.

EDIT:

Pictures of the first train in the new depot at Three Bridges.....

387110 is the unit closest with 387111 on the south end.

I had 387 110 ( with 387 108 ) for haulage from Blackfriars to East Croydon on 25th February. It was the second time I'd seen the pair that day as well.

Love that last shot there especially! :)

Not many 387s to go now, should be filling my book most significantly when I get down there in just over 2 weeks :D
