I believe I was talking about 458s, not 455s. And about internal care, not repaints. Maybe it doesn't seem fair to you, but there have been enough comments on here and elsewhere about the lack of TLC with the 458s. And its the view of plenty of staff as well as others.

I know,I was just remarking how nice the 455's look.

Presumably SWT are satisfied with the internal condition as they wouldn't have accepted delivery. Also, given that Wimbledon hasn't bothered with the internal condition of the 458s for the past 15 years, I doubt they're going to start now.

Also I was remarking on your comment and disagree given Wimbledon do a very good job and I have a failure about every two years. Why the haven't done the internal I don't know, perhaps they don't specialise in it on 458's (Actually I thought Bournemouth or somewhere else would do it).I haven't seen the later units anyway but if they are bad I will and try and find out why.

It also seems they are more interested in getting these units up and running them in service first as they are well late and we are short of units at times.

No worries, lets agree to disagree. On the webchat today they said that the first unit shouldn't have gone into service without a clean and this will be done asap.

That doesn't seem fair.I thought they were "freshened" up at Bournemouth.I think Wimbledon do a very good job on their trains.Who keeps painting these 455's? They look lovely.

Saw 502 being shunted about Wimbledon (under it's own power) just after 1330 so it does actually move.;)

It might be alive, but is it well enough to enter service? :P
Once again a unit short today.

The other day SWT said on Twitter that weekend services on Weybridge/Woking via Hounslow and Hounslow loop will continue to use single Class 455 units.

Well that's fair enough..What were they? Covered in dust?

If so you are obviously correct that they should have had a clean first.:(

No,I think it is unwell. So would you be if you'd had major work done.;)

502 has been out with a brake fault , it was out on road beside bogie drop coupled to 501 .

So...to our inside man...What is this about dirty interiors,Arty?

as far as i can see very little has been done to the interiors of our returning units , hence the blue first class seating remaining , which i think looks hideous, they must have done some work though as 501 still has plastic wrap on some of the seating , but i think in the rush to get units back they are cutting corners , 501 came back only half completed, the wabtec guy's are finishing it off here.

Is it still expected to be complete by May 15? Because realistically if each set takes so long to be fully ready, even with stuff not complete upon arrival at Wimbledon, I'd I were SWT aid want to gradually ease them into service for December 2015 that way any faults with ASDO and the 459s themselves can be sorted.

Yeah, that sounds about right although I haven't been near those units recently as desiro's (and 455's) are taking up my time.:p

Noticed at least four units at Wimbledon Sheds @ approx 1210.

Last night when I was passing on my many trips up & down to Waterloo, both 501 & 502 were coupled up outside the inspection shed.

Personally I'd keep those coaches in storage, because if any of the other were to receive significant accidental damage you could always use one of those.

I mean look at that 455 that had a cement mixer interface problem at Oxshott. It was almost certainly destined for withdrawal, but they found a coach from a 210 unit and its now back in service.

Yeah but storing them to rust like that VEP in Clapham Yard is not good.:-x

Think 458020 is off on Tuesday.

Ignore that actually, sorry. It's 4Z47 on Tuesday, 47 and barriers from Wimbledon to Wabtec. Could be the same barriers that brought down 458503, in which case another 458/5 may need delivering from Wabtec.

Both trains on the Hounslow loop / Weybridge via Putney routes this morning were in short formation (5 instead of 10 cars).

What is going on with these things?

A lot of head scratching in Wimbledon Park depot! I know that they've got two in the sheds for testing, remedial work & "static" train crew training.
