I'm not convinced 239 is gone, last I heard was it will still be used with another power car on route learning trips, along with 285.

Hi all

Any idea on the unit allocations for the 30/8/23 to the 2/9/23. Would like to catch one of these before they are retired

There won't be allocations till the day. Also 2nd September is a strike day so unlikely they be running anyway.

Well done - I've never seen two at New St together! Another excellent photo.
It doesn't usually happen as the normal weekday timetable of two sets working four trains means they only pass once - somewere in Devon.
For the last couple of Sundays there have been three sets out working four trains, and all three sets have crossed Birmingham within an hour of one another. Indeed these two were timetabled to cross at New St. The trains were diverted away from Tamworth via Lichfield.

I feel incredibly lucky as I managed to photo all three sets across three different places - Aston, New St and Kings Norton. What's more I only set out to get a photo of an HST on the northern half of the Crosscity line! I believe XC trains are diverted via Lichfield next Sunday (03Sep) too, but I don't know whether three HST's will be out too running to a similar timetable.

Sets out today:
43007 (207) + XC02 + 43008 (208) - 1V50 0606 EDB-PLY & 1E63 1527 PLY-LDS.

43303 + XC03 + 43357 - 1V44 0612 LDS-PLY & 1S51 1227 PLY-GLC.

All going well I should be getting 357+303 on 1S51 later!

It's not looking brilliant...

1V44 is currently 60 minutes late due to the points failure near Sheffield. However, it looks as though it's going to run fast to Plymouth from New St, only stopping at Bristol and Exeter, in the hope of making up some time. So you may be in luck, but I'd expect 1S51 to be potentially disrupted.

1V50 is doing the same thing - so both HSTs are running around 60 minutes late and calling at fewer stations on their way to Plymouth.

What's all that about? I find it surprising that with less than three weeks to go Doncaster is still doing work on them.

Indeed - it gave me a very pleasant surprise while I was waiting to see the delayed 1V50, leading it by about 10 minutes. I wished I'd brought a camera!

43239 was on rear of the 06:06 Edinburgh-Plymouth on Friday gone (with 43303 on front)... take it this must have been its last run?
(I see from Liam L's post in the thread that a different set worked the return).
Yep, 007, XC02 and 008 worked the return set

Are both diagrams midweek running until the end? Hoping to grab one Leeds to Newcastle on the evening of September the 11th?

Just a gentle reminder this thread is exclusively for HST diagrams/allocations please.

I have moved some posts into other forum sections; if anyone has any queries regarding trip planning please use the Trip Planning & Reports section and for any posts suggesting XC obtain more stock, please use the Speculative Discussion section. Thanks :)

No driver to bring off 43007 008 from Laira onto 1S51 due to a fatality on Tuesday.

43357 303 were turned at Bristol last night on 1E63 due to a track defect between Bristol Parkway and Cheltenham
