sadly it does seem that EMR's main contribution to passenger quality since franchise takeover is a distinct downturn in interior quality / ambience compared with EMTs efforts. One might think that in all the time these 180s have been not in use deep cleaning contractors could have been inside them to get them at least half decent looking inside.

It does not give joe public much confidence of a decent covid cleaning regime if they don't even look clean...(not that you can see covid but 1st impressions and all that)
I completely agree - under EMT the units were cleaned almost daily and were kept in near immaculate condition. EMR seem to be doing the bare minimum, which especially during these Covid times isn’t very reassuring.

The 222s have always been quite bad on the inside also
Not always - as I said above under EMT they were an acceptable quality.

It’s not just the inside. The 156s look disgraceful (not helped by the dull livery) and a 158 passed me a couple of days ago with a completely black front end.

If you are on about 222's I believe it's where vinyl has worn off and the blue is visible again.

Whilst @Hairy Bear has confirmed that it's a new part issue rather than wear, it's also worth noting that the skirt is painted rather than vinyled. ISTR that there were issues early on with the paint used coming away quite easily to reveal bits of Stagecoach livery underneath, both on the skirt but also the lower edge of the yellow panel

don't get me started on their current tatty internal condition....which of course EMT did let get poor, esp in Standard. They were OK for some time but in recent years have indeed gone downhill.

Yes, this is indeed true. Of course I don't have to pay a fare to look at the outside...

Thanks, on my post auto correct changed 222s to wows! It must be a Meridian fan.
:D ;)
No its because it's had a new centre skirt. They come in 'stagecoach blue' and have not been painted.
Oh ok, didn't know that. It's just that I've seen photos where purple has worn off and blue was visible underneath. At least I know now that it could be worn off vinyl or a new skirt.

Yes there were issues with some of the earlier jobs which was how I thought the blue was appearing again, but now of course we know it's how the new parts come painted.

Of course, a dirty interior is much worse. Trains are always going to get dirty outside at this time of year for example. Doesn’t give a good impression though.

It is a bit odd, a new Franchise should pride itself in Interior works... the former LNER Coaches that's understandable as they're not going to waste time refurbishing Stock that is due to get replaced soon, with the 180''s not staying for long either, I was never expecting an interior refurbishments as with the 222's being replaced later on with the 810's as as you already know. So in a way it does make sense their "non refurbishment plan".

yes, it does make sense - but mostly to their accountants and business plan - not to the fare paying passenger - that's my point - no "sorry, our trains are scruffy, but we're sorting that out - in the mean time here's x% off our fares / your next booking etc etc" - not easy to do with the world TOC work in, but the fare paying punter does not care about that. It also damages 'the brand' - some punters won't find out about the new trains, they will have been put off by the last trip they took....I fear.

180111 with 180110 at St. Pancras this morning after working 1C06 0519 Derby to St Pancras International.

The interior is still, unsurprisingly, HT style.

I take it these units are working the ex-GC HST diagrams throughout today?

No. The diagrams from today have all been totally changed.

A mix of Nottingham slow, Nottingham fast, Corby and Derby at the end of the day.

Ok no worries, I’m guessing these will operate to Sheffield on occasions as well, or is that solely 222 work now?

I'd not be certain of that - aim was for the 180s to reduce HST use so one might expect them to be generally replacing HST diagrams (maybe?).

The ex-GC HSTs used to operate the 13:59 service to St Pancras from Sheffield, although I’m guessing this will move back to the Meridians now. Other HSTs still operate through Sheffield, although that’s only on weekends and the early morning/late evening St Pancras to Leeds service.

The EMR fleet seems to be becoming more modern slowly but surely - has 109 entered service despite not being reliveried?

43045 is not at Long Marston. It was moved to Burton on 3rd December and I think it may have moved on since, possibly to Derby.

43480/484 I think moved to Barrow Hill today (with DY23?), presumably on this: Realtime Trains - 5Z82 1030 Etches Park Sdgs to Barrow Hill Colas Rail

Not sure why you are listing 43075 as that has never been an EMR power car.

I think everything above a certain height - maybe top of support stanchions or some such, is NR responsibility - or so I once read.

I've updated 045 to Burton with a extra note about it possibly being moved on and removed 075.

5Z82 yesterday was 43467 with a buffet.
