… because of course a unit that was working in Wales one week can’t possibly be suitable to work in the East Midlands the following week… Sheesh, the MDTR really doesn’t help itself, does it!

Not exactly an informed, or constructive contribution.

It is due an exam and powertrain change and couldn't, for whatever reason, be done by TFW according to my contact

Thanks for the informed, constructive contribution!

As is generally the case with railway operational matters, there is a perfectly sensible explanation, that isn’t immediately obvious.

170924 having its BSI couplers fitted in next few days so should emerge as 424
Good to hear, not only will it allow it to become a more standardised unit but will allow it to work further than the current short self contained diagrams.

This should be 170204, interesting that it's going to Eastcroft instead of Etches Park
Probably for driver training/crew familiarisation purposes?

204 will go to Central Rivers for bogies.
205 is having a,C4 service and raft change in May. No mention if it is to be re-liveried at this time though.

Hopefully yes like all the other 170s they have.
I could be pedantic and say that some of them aren’t purple yet (eg some of the /2s and ex-171s). But, yes, I share your fundamental point being that it’s hopefully gaining the “normal” EMR Regional livery.

What's the latest with 170923/423 and 170924/424? Any news on their conversion / renumbering, and are they / when are they expected to be in service - and if not currently in service, where are they located? Many thanks for any info.
