You would've thought with the Enviro400s now all mostly in service they would've adjusted the duties so that 1/2 buses stay out late, the main reason the 1/2 is single deck operated in the evening was due to the fuel costs of the B7LAs and Enviro500s.
How do the Merc bendys do for fuel? Do they not come out at night because of fuel or because of their reliability?

They're also supposedly reluctant to use the Streetdecks on all day duties now even though they have the range for it due to the unreliability of the Kittybrewster refuelling facility. Essentially if the pump fails they want to be in a position where they can at least use the Streetdecks for the first day after while cover vehicles are drafted in.

The refuelling is done in the evening, that is why the hydrogen buses stop working after teatime.

Wasn't that the case in 2021 too though and yet they were happy having some of them out later? It's only been since the pump became less reliable that they haven't been out at all later.

In my experience the Mercedes and E500s were reliable enough, just there age getting to them slowly but certainly.

The E500s have been touted as gas guzzlers, the Citaros being 2 tonnes heavier yet again can only mean they will at least be as efficient as the E500s.

Have the Ex-Glasgow E300s always had passenger information screens in the interior?

I can't remember seeing them before and only noticed them recently.

Most of Glasgow buses had the passengers info screens from new, Even got fitted to a few Plaxton Presidents as well, They used to scroll the location you where at by every street up until about 2010 then they just only ever displayed the date and time or Ferrograph OVD, The E400s that are now in Aberdeen should have them too.

Only 2 of the ones that came to Aberdeen have this, the rest are similar to the Aberdeen bought ones.

Enviro 500 38217 was seen by myself around 6:15pm coming off the M1 & heading towards Meadowhall in a Sheffield direction in full Arberdeen livery.

Just noticed that another 2 E500s have been taken out of fleet - 38205 and 38221. I guess they will be heading south to Ensign if they're not already sold. This only leaves 7 still in Aberdeen 9, 10, 13, 15, 18,19 and 23. I wonder if they will be keeping 38223 after getting it done for the 125 years service in Aberdeen.

It's probably going to Sheffield for fuel and driver rest overnight; that's what the others did.

It may have been mentioned already but 38213/15/18/19/23 are staying for the foreseeable future.

I think the plan is to reduce the amount of them because of their poor MPG, Obviously saving money but still keeping the ones they have for capacity for the 1/2 that's always needed, everytime I'm in Aberdeen it's a route I use constantly and it's always absolutely packed.

The retained E500s aren't for the 1/2, they're for school services and the 9U contract. Even with three still to be withdrawn only 38210 was on the 1/2 today. As such in terms of service work your best shot of finding them will be on the 11/11A and 19 since of the school services the 15S and 19S duties are the ones that are most consistently allocated an E500.

There has also been an increase in single deckers on the 1/2 due to the 20 now requiring two deckers and the E400s not exactly proving reliable...

The duty 38210 is on today seems to be allocated an E500 though. I presume it is for the Harlaw Academy pupils who mostly use that service.

The 2S was a Hydroliner. Unless you're meaning the Ex-Garthdee 1 in the morning? if so then the duty its on is too late to be of use for Harlaw pupils.

Yes it was the 1 that does the Harlaw pupils. This bus always got an E500 before due to loadings.

Why have they switched the 20 to decker operated? It was almost exclusively singles until the e400s arrived. Surely the 1&2 need the deckers more than the 20.

I frequently used the 20 last year and single deckers were annoying at some points of the day however they could generally cope at most points of the day.

The 20 always needed double deckers since the under 22 card was introduced but First Aberdeen did not have enough double deckers and the really busy duty used to be the last bus out of the depot so got what was left. The single deckers were leaving Hillhead with standing loads during the day.

I notice the Yutongs now mostly are on duties not out in the evening, presumably cost related rather than having inadequate charge left.

33902 is now on fleet, hence 38209 coming off last night.

67789 has also returned to service after a lengthy period off the road.

63193 and 69138 were both collected by Trevor Wigleys on Monday.

Does First Aberdeen have any plans about their Citaro Bendy Buses? Like are they going to get rid of them, similar to what is happening with the E500s?

There was a bid for electric buses for the Bridges put in. If successful it would be the end of the Citaros.

Do any manufacturers offer electric bendies?
The bid was for double deckers, and the grant was a lump sum, so no more would be available for the much more expensive bendies, anyway. Plus IF the whole depot is to be electric as planned, including the coaches, there probably is no room for them anyway.
