Abject bloody misery all weekend. Well apart from Palace losing which was the only bright thing about my football this weekend.

Amazing how perceptions change isn't it? For me it was a pretty good weekend apart from Leicester winning (and I don't begrudge them that to be honest) and the Red Scouse winning. (as opposed to whining) Apart from Leicester all our rivals for the top lost. :)

I'm not there tonight (work reasons), so I wouldn't know. However, I assume it's something to do with the steelworks where the coke overs were closed down today.

Including a goal from former Huddersfield Town YTS graduate David Mirfin, I see. He must be getting on a bit now?

Despite the attempts of the officialsto thwart them, Huddersfield Town ended a minor blip with a comprehensive dismantling of Reading despite not being quite at our best. Only a consolation by Ola John in the last few seconds took the shine off the evening. He took it well though to be fair. A first senior goal for Flo Bojaj was a bonus, perhaps he can fire us to mid-table and book a place in Albania's European Championship squad...

Fleet Town 0...Winchester City 3 (Flooks 6, Tomasso 16, Bentley 90)

Winchester City are through to the Hampshire Senior Cup Final after comfortably beating their North Hants opponents. City started brighter and were ahead when Rob Flooks headed home from a corner, before Adam Tomasso poked home ten minutes later. City dominated the first half, with Matt Benham seeing a header clawed off the line. The second half was more even but at the death Warren Bentley beat the keeper to wrap it up and set up a final clash with Havant & Waterlooville at St Mary's.

Meanwhile, in the league...

Cinderford Town 4...Wantage Town 1

Evesham United 7 (SEVEN)...Bashley 0

Swindon Supermarine 3...Mangotsfield United 2

Taunton Town 7 (SEVEN)...Banbury United 1

You don't often see the top team in the league lose by a score of 7-1...

So the cost of away tickets for the premiership will be capped at £30:
http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35764007

So pretty much all away tickets will be set at £30 (bar any local discounts) regardless what is charged now. Or the cost of home tickets will rise to cover the "loss" by the away ticket cap (or other things will rise in price inside the stadium such as food/drink/car/parking)

Poor Droylsden but I see Chester v Aldershot ending up as high scoring game too.

Chester 8-2 Aldershot

Aldershot must been bad last night as Chester was 6-1 up at half time.

Sky "sources" tell me that Rafael Benitez is in advance talks with Newcastle United to replace McLaren.

Is Benitez the man for a relegation battle?

£37 for a game at Villa Park

Are they trying to grab all the money they could before the cap comes in next year?

I see the takeover of Bolton has now been finalised. Hopefully this will sort their financial problems out.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35775537

I simply can't get my head around football, how can a £7.5m takeover sort out a club/business with over £170m of debt?, I'd also be interested to know if the sale of the clubs training ground and car park was above board or if they were sold to one of the new owners

Hopefully they'll soon cough up the £2m+ of our money that they owe HMRC ....

Apparently most of the debt is to the old owner, who is going to write it off. But the old owner refused to put another penny in, meaning the club's expenditure was far in excess of its income.

I'm not sure, he did a good job turning round Crisis Chelsea the other year, so he has it in him.

Can't be worse than Sheashtick Shteve.
