Very interesting game today, three red cards and a penalty in the Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston North End match. Fortunately, the penalty was awarded to us after Will Buckley was fouled by Preston 'keeper Chris Maxwell, and Steven Fletcher successfully converted it.

I have to say seeing Preston North End's Eoin Doyle and Jermaine Beckford fighting over something so petty as that is one of the silliest things I've ever seen in my entire time as a football fan. They should both be ashamed.

Considering how Eoin Doyle's career has come to a standstill since being sold by us after the biggest purple patch of his career he's an idiot to do anything to get himself suspended.

Thankfully I didn't bother walking the couple of hundred metres down the road to watch Chesterfield get beaten 5-0 today. Considering I just did nearly 3 seasons of 100% attendance it shows how rotten things have become. Losing cash hand over fist despite £2m of player sales no one seems to know where it's going and admin and relegation is looming :(

Lancaster City 1...Hyde United 0

An away match against second-placed Lancaster City was never going to be an easy match for Hyde and their recent form showed much promise in the first half creating a number of chances that were not taken unfortunately. The second half was better from the Lancaster point of view, but it was not until the 78th minute that Lancaster scored what was to be the winning goal.

Barnstaple Town 1...Winchester City 3 (Jenkins 51; Green 23, Feeney 24, Neighbour 33 pen)

Winchester City got their first league win in a month (after two cup games and an abandonment) at fellow strugglers Barnstaple. City opened up a commanding lead in a ten-minute period with a quickfire double from Stuart Green and Craig Feeney followed by a Howard Neighbour penalty. The hosts pulled a goal back in the second half but City kept them at bay and could have extended the lead.

Bournemouth 4-3 Liverpool.
Little Scottish guy comes off the bench and turns around the game.

Curzon Ashton 3-4 AFC Wimbledon
Not as big a turn around as this game with the home team winning 3-0 with 10 minutes to go.

Felt sorry for Ashton as they didn't deserve to lose that match and they going be kicking themselves if Wimbledon get one of big teams in tomorrow third round draw.

Barrow and Sutton are cup upset so far this weekend and I hope isn't one at Sincil Bank tomorrow night.

All eyes now on tomorrow's 3rd round draw... will we have our usual love-in with Reading or Charlton, I wonder?
I'm praying for a home team or Preston away; I don't get get into Preston til 1.50 on the Saturday! [emoji38]

Yes, completely unacceptable. Nearly threw my phone at the wall when I saw we'd thrown away that lead.

Looks like turning the stream off to reset the game really does work.

Was 3-1 when I turned it off, thinking "utter garbage and Howe got it wrong today with 3 at the back". What do I know, I am only a fan.:lol:

Not going well for Oldham. 2-0 down to Lincoln. Can they do a Wimbledon or Luton?

Nearly but as I fear cup upset indeed happened at Sincil Bank. :(

Lincoln 3-2 Oldham

Well done to Lincoln and they probably give Ipswich good match in third round.

So Barrow vs Sutton United in the final on 27th May
(provided of course they don't get drawn against each other in earlier rounds)

That final is still on. :)

Pretty pleased with Liverpool's next opponents in the FA Cup, not so sure about Sheffield Wednesday's. That will be a tough game.

Surprised there has been no mention up to yet of the biggest story in football right now.
The abuse scandal that seems to be growing bigger by the day and may result in some far reaching changes to youth and academy football.
I get the feeling there's a lot more to come yet too. Not just with allegations but also how things were allowed to get so bad

I was in the process of typing something similar - this exploding story is far from finished

Fleet Town 1...Winchester City 6 (SIX) (Carr 25, Green 18, Feeney 26, 65, Neighbour 49, Briggs 51, Hill 70)

Winchester City made short work of their opponents in tonight's Hampshire Senior Cup match, although it should be said that the hosts' goalkeeper was injured attempting to save the opening goal. Two of the "big four" (Basingstoke Town, Eastleigh, Gosport Borough & Havant) are out, so this might be City's year, although Hartley Wintney continue to surprise everyone.

Other Results:

Hampshire Cup:

Gosport Borough 3...Eastleigh 1

Hartley Wintney 4...Lymington Town 0

Basingstoke Town 1...Cowes Sports 0

AFC Portchester 0...Sholing 2

AFC Stoneham 1...Fawley 0

AFC Totton 3...Horndean 2

SLSW:

Barnstaple Town 0...Swindon Supermarine 1

Bishops Cleeve 0...Salisbury 5

North Leigh (3) 3...Hereford (0) 3

Taunton Town 4...Paulton Rovers 1

We are absolutely bobbins at cup football - Darlo were knocked out of the FA Trophy last night at Marine who are a division below us. 2-0 up and cruising but lost 3-2 to a last minute penalty. The manager was the epitome of the tight-lipped, ashen-faced supremo Ron Knee described by Private Eye although more with barely contained rage than fear. It will have been a long and interesting journey home after that performance. It may well be the end of the road for some of the players as Gray is ruthless in relation to failure.

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/14949997.Gray_fuming_as_Quakers_are_beaten_in_the_FA_Trophy/

Northern Echo: Gray said: “At two goals up, we were comfortable, but after that indiscipline cost us. We gave silly free kicks away, and didn’t defend set-pieces well at all. That has become a real concern, and things will change.

“Whether it was a penalty or not, things happened leading up to it that should have been prevented.

“We’ve tried many things over the last six games, many ways and means, but again it’s boiling down to players’ individual errors and not taking responsibility in their own game.

“This has got to change and players’ mentalities must also change to allow us to take this club forward again.
