if Huddersfield win the playoff will they be the first team to ever be promoted to the premier league with a negative goal difference?

No need for the post-1992 qualifier: we'd be the first side in the history of English football to be promoted with a negative goal difference. Not a statistic to be proud of, but I hope it comes to pass!

There has been a team relegated with a positive goal difference though. Manchester City were relegated from division 1 in 1937/38 with a goal difference of +2 (though goal average was used to separate tied teams back then), a season they'd started as reigning champions.

Well, if Huddersfield gets promoted, at least we'll have a team in Yorkshire in the Premier league.

Not like it matters, but just saying.

Since the inception of the Premier League (or whatever it is called), has any team finishing in the top six drawn as many games as Manchester United in a season?

It amused me when the media kept making a thing they hadn't lost in over 20 matches in the league. I don't think they'd won many of them neither!

Is that to the top flight, or any football league?

Who cares. Promotion is promotion.

Fiendish planning by Huddersfield bringing in a German manager and German players precisely for that play off shoot out. Fiendish. Almost Germanic.............

Is there any particular reason why the National North and South play-off finals aren't currently held at a neutral ground?

A reward for highest finishing club. It is standard in all of the division we have played in since our FA enforced demotion - interesting the Conference seem keen to translate that system to the top league

[that the decisive penalty was missed by the dirty cheating b'stard Forestieri was the icing on the cake!

Yep, I enjoyed that too, can't stand him.

As for the playoff final, I'm torn. I hate Reading, always have, even before their graceless FA Cup quarter final win against us by cheating- plastic club, plastic fans- but obviously as a proud Bantam the thought of seeing you lot go up gives me the cold sweats.

Ah well, Wembley for us this Saturday. And the cheapest ticket is over £40, the most expensive being north of £80. So I'm not going. I'm probably going to go to the rugby league Magic Weekend instead, who are charging £12.50 for a day ticket.

I've got mixed thoughts about play offs but if we're going to have them its only right that higher placed clubs get home advantage and this proposed new system is an improvement.

I would imagine so and two heavy defeats to Fulham have certainly contributed.

I've always had a soft spot for Huddersfield Town as my first ever game was seeing them win 0-3 at Crystal Palace and it would be great to see them back in the top flight.

Any of the top 4 levels of the pyramid, i.e. above non-league.

Our famous unbeaten run (43 league games, not including the play-offs) was similar- 20 draws in that run so if we'd won half and lost half of those, we'd have had more points and probably ended up in the automatic spots in one of the two seasons the run straddled.

Cheers for your support, everyone. Hope you've not jinxed us! Particularly hope Bradford City also get promoted, as it'll be nice to renew the rivalry if we don't go up... and if we do, then Beeston will need another game that they can have their season's highest crowd for yet pretend they don't care about!

The scenes in the League Two Play-Offs...Exeter score an added time winner to beat Carlisle 6-5 on aggregate and Luton score an own goal against Blackpool, who also win 6-5 on aggregate.

Presuming you're after Blackpool winning overall as it's a cheaper away day next season ;)

Went to Kenilwiorth Road last night for Luton v Blackpool. A really exciting game which Luton threw away thanks to a bad goal keeping error and a last minute own goal.

Luton looked decent but lacked a "old head" in the middle of the park. Blackpool had more craft about them and didn't give up.

I have a soft spot for Luton but they deserved what they got last night. One of the worst and most blatant dives for their penalty I have seen. Fabulous to watch justice delivered quickly for once.

was at the other end of the ground to us so we couldn't tell for certain. Looked soft.

You wouldn't have had a good view (and nor did the ref probably, hence him falling for it). On the TV it was absolutely obvious even from the default half-way camera.

There is a possibility of some free tickets for the FA Vase Final and FA Trophy Final at Wembley this Sunday.

Anyone else interested?

This is because a friend of a forum member has come across some free tickets, and I've been offered one, but there may be 1 or 2 additional spare ones.

If you are interested please let me know ASAP.

Is anyone going to the Fa Vase or Trophy Final at Wembley this Sunday? And anyone want a free ticket?

A friend of a forum member has come across some free tickets, and there may be one or two more still available (there were last time I checked, but this could change). If you are interested, send me a PM.

I've got a ticket but not sure if to go or now. Surprised we've sold 7000+ to be honest. As much as this team tried after Xmas it feels strange seeing your relegated team at Wembley. I went last year and some Halifax fans felt the same.

Hopefully a good stage to protest against Jackie. Would get quite a bit of coverage

Disgraceful post. Never is it right to abuse a referee no matter how bad they are.
You should have seen the game, he deserved more than a gob full. I still can't believe the ref didn't have an escort out of Bradford that day

Anyone fancy a game of

Football Line-Up Jenga Killer???

We take a classic match and take turns naming players who might have started the game. First person to name someone incorrect loses. You're not allowed to cheat by checking online.

We'll start with Liverpool vs AC Milan, 2005 Champions League Final:

Steven Gerrard

It probably wouldn't warrant a new thread though...I guess I could try...

(Also, I've been on this thread for ages now - I even set up the fantasy football league. ;))

Indeed - gutted Carlisle conceded late on too for the same reason. Already got Plymouth next year, can't be having another one 5+ hours away.

Ah the joys of league 1  Good luck to Huddersfield and Exeter in their finals, especially Exeter !! The look on the 200+ Lasher fans when they lose will be priceless

Fun fact: both West Ham and Sunderland have a team's-worth of outfield players injured or doubtful today. And still Robert Snodgrass can't get a game.

Sunderland: 3-2-4-2
Kirchoff, Koné, Djilobodji; Denayer, McNair; Watmore, Honeyman, Pienaar, Khazri; Anichebe
West Ham: 3-4-3
Kouyaté, Reid, Ogbonna; Antonio, Obiang, Noble (c), Masuaku; Töre, Carroll, Sakho
