Bloody 'ell hutch. Gutted for you, there'll be many a kick in the proverbials trying to secure a driving job though fella. Doesn't sound like a dead end - might even work in your favour in the long run. Which depot?

That's how I'm trying to look at it - It was the York depot and I live in Merseyside. I have family living near Middlesbrough (just within the hour distance) so would have lived with them until I could relocate closer.

Still only York out of the 4 depots that've had any final interviews at all yet it seems (correct me if i'm wrong guys and gals). The process is perhaps lagging behind across the whole franchise. Worse case scenario, move over there next time the day you apply ;) Chin up!

That's okay then. I'd passed stage 2 with another toc and was told I'd be contacted again at interview stage. I feared I'd been forgotten about

Don't quote me on it fella, just an observation. If someone who's gone for Manchester/Liverpool/Sheffield pipes up with an interview date that'd change things.

I thought Saturday was a strange date too to be informed. However, the medicals need to be early next week as I have to give a months notice. (If i'm successful that is) Things are getting tight here. ha.

Don't hold your breath for ftpe recruitment. I heard nothing for 3 months after driver managers interview. When I finally couldn't wait anymore and contacted them, it took 2 more weeks to reply with an answer that I was unsuccessful . That day of being told then became the date they worked the 6 months from for not being allowed to apply for similar roles, preventing me from applying at the next recruitment...

Enjoy your lives, xmas etc, don't wait for this company. Good luck if you are successful.

I sense some bitterness

Not really, ftpe assessment passes more or less took me straight to interview elsewhere and I successfully became a driver eventually.
What will happen is the succesful candidates will be told around the date recruitment said. The rest will be left waiting in case of failed medical etc.

Well done Gareth. Huge congratulations :)

I've been following the thread for a couple of days but only just registered to be able to post.

I guess that means I didn't get one then if successful applicants have been notified today. How were you notified, if you don't mind me asking? Did you get a call or was it by email?

Well done you two, same here I'm in for the York depot and I'm fairly certain Gareth is as well. Best of luck to those still waiting and I hope you all get a position, and if it isn't with FTPE I hope your assessment results get you in with another TOC

Sorry to barge in on this thread. I am relatively new to applying for trainee driver positions. I have applied for 2. One for freightliner where I completed all the tests successfully but come unstuck at the DM interview. Also, one for northern but didn't get to interview stage, I think because I may have been a tad for from depot n relocation wasn't an option. My question for anybody that can help, is it common to apply for a lot of positions before you are successful in getting a start or do a lot of people get on first time of trying. Any advice will be welcomed. Thank you and congratulations to all who are successful and I hope I can join you one day. Thank you
