It's only pennies away already. £3,968 for this year's annual season from Chelmo. I'm glad that my employer offers an interest-free loan as I don't know how I'd cope otherwise.

Your rarely gonna get a built man trying to sit in the middle of two other men, it will usually be petite women they deny the seat to that could probably fit.
It is quite a state of affairs if we expect a woman to get so intimate with burly strange men at either side. I'm male and even I find it totally unacceptable.
Other countries don't expect people to sit in a three in such a narrow train. There are a few other examples of 3+2 seating in Europe but the trains are wider. Because of the narrower gauge, there should be *less* 3+2 seating in Britain than elsewhere.
People are also fatter than they used to be, making 3+2 seating even less reasonable.
Can't be as bad the 395s where the toilets are only at the DTPsYep in the plans published in Modern Railways the Stadler Intercity sets appear to have no toilets in First Class, to get to one you'll have to traipse through past the buffet counter and into the next Standard Class vehicle. Four coaches if you happen to be in the front First Class vehicle!
can i just say how hyped i am for the Stadler units!
yeah, i love the new GA fleetCourse you can. I am too. I am really hoping these units and the ones for merseyrail do really well as they are Starlet's first impressions on the UK market and I'd love to see more of them over here.
yes you do indeed come out victorious in this circumstance. Don't get used to it thoughIndeed, being tall grants you many advantages in life. Why begrudge us shorties one of the few situations where we come out ahead. Suck it up, giraffes.
I don't see the problem with that? At least 395s have two toilets, the 360/1s, often lauded here as the 'units we absolutely should not be getting rid of' and rightly so, only have one! Can't be as bad the 395s where the toilets are only at the DTPs
Ideally yes, but the victorian infrastructure can't handle that either! In terms of trains per hour throughput given the mixture of services that use the GEML they don't do bad in terms of service frequency at peak hours. The only way you could really achieve the above is to slow everything down by normalising the calling pattern of services, or of course spending vast amounts double-tracking certain areas. As a bloke with a rugby player physic, big shoulders & a beer belly, I can confirm the 3 + 2 is just bloody stupid, it's just not gonna happen even if a 8st 5ft tall man or women decided it was a good idea to use the middle seat!
I've even felt like I need to reduce my general size/spread when using the class 395s in the 2 + 2 seats where there's no windows because the plug doors using that space, you actually lose about 20cm of shoulder/arm space when you are in the corner with no window ledge or window! Frankly there are no simple answers to fixing this, longer trains mean longer platforms and the Victorian infrastructure can't handle that, so the answer is more regular trains pure and simple
Does anyone know if 321330 has gone to Doncaster? Not seen it mentioned here and also not seen it around of late.
All gone. While on the topic of the 321's, will they be fully replaced by the 755's and 720's or retained to provide extra capacity?
thats ashame, well they be scrapped then or moved up north? All gone.
I think there's hope for the Renatus fleet although I'm not sure they are that good but will be interesting to see. Apart from conversion to bimode most operators seem to prefer buying brand new EMUs.thats ashame, well they be scrapped then or moved up north?

Really, why? There's more than enough 319s to fulfill any requirements for such conversions; starting with a 321 that's never had 3rd rail capability or voltage changeover would be a lot more work.I could see the 321s being turned into tri-mode like the 319s
Or you could give them 3rd rail atleastReally, why? There's more than enough 319s to fulfill any requirements for such conversions; starting with a 321 that's never had 3rd rail capability or voltage changeover would be a lot more work.

No, that would be a lot of pointless work. There are currently four dual voltage operations, and all of them have either much more modern stock or about to.Or you could give them 3rd rail atleast
Belated thank you for the info. Really appreciated as always. It has, went to Doncaster a few weeks ago
and neither does the sound pitch, but I believe 170s are 'non-compliance accepted'. A lot of older units have no sounder on door release at all (and the light on the button doesn't flash to denote door release either).Aren't there supposed to be a certain amount of beeps in a given amount of time...? Even a 1998 170 (for example) manages that, even if the volume level may not meet 2020 spec
