I stand to be corrected as I'm not completely sure but I have read somewhere that there is a problem with gangway connections preventing them from working through the Severn Tunnel until a modification is done. In fact, I'd welcome the correct reason myself.
Looks like a two car 165 is standing in for a four car 387 on the following services this evening:
17:04 Didcot Parkway to London Paddington due 18:28
18:45 London Paddington to Reading due 19:49
20:00 Reading to London Paddington due 20:58
21:15 London Paddington to Didcot Parkway due 22:39
23:21 Didcot Parkway to London Paddington due 00:42

depot wizards and their magic spanners
I concur with FGW_DID - it’s an 8 car 387 in play - perhaps an earlier plan to 2 vice 8 was advertised by the LTV info controller; but not reversed when the depot wizards and their magic spanners sprung forth an 8 car.
My apologies; JourneyCheck stated 2 vice 4.No idea why but those workings are on two 387 diagrams so it should be 2 vice 8! Genius is still staying there are two 387s (387145 & 165) allocated to the workings.
The delay has been previously explained as due to route clearance of Ground Signals in the Portsmouth Harbour area. I believe they’d already be running except for that problem.According to the latest (November 2018) issue of 'Modern Railways', the first 2 5-car Turbo train diagrams to Portsmouth Harbour will be the 07:30 and 17:30 services from Cardiff Central. At last larger trains!

I wonder what feedback will be given to these trains for long-distance passengers. Look at the quite poor feedback on SWR's Class 450's (3+2 seating) against the 2+2 Class 444's that have positive feedback!
My Guide to Services GWR book basically said it was during this timetable change. Must be further delays in electrification.
But there's a lot more seats, so a lot less likely that you'll have to standThe car is looking even more appealing by the day for those folk travelling from Southampton to Newport, instead of a nice 2+2 seated 158 with reservations, tables seats & folding seat back tables replaced by 3+2 outer suburban units with limited tables, (highly likely) no seat reservations and no folding seat back tables.
Those folding seat back tables are useful for when you have cups of coffee, as somewhere to rest the cup when it was half full.

166205 now has lettered coaches A-C.
Unsure if it’s a Turbo on the 17:49 Bristol to Weymouth (it usually is though) but the train operating this service today terminated at Frome with a train fault. Next train for Weymouth three hours later. (Unrelated side note, the 17:23 Bristol to Portsmouth was a 2 car 150 vice 3 car 158+2 car 150 today. 2 cars vice 5. Ouch!)
I notice that journeycheck is reporting a booked 4-car turn on Paddington - Bedwyn (albeit a 2-car today). I have never seen a pair of 16x on Bedwyn trains before, so is this a recent change?
07:05 Bedwyn to London Paddington due 08:41
09:06 London Paddington to Bedwyn due 10:19
10:41 Bedwyn to London Paddington due 11:52
12:06 London Paddington to Bedwyn due 13:19
This is due to a broken down train.
Will be formed of 2 coaches instead of 4.

Looks like a typo to me; those trains are all diagrammed 3 car Turbo. Also while the new length siding has been commissioned at Bedwyn, I’ve not yet seen authority for us to put longer than a 3 car on passenger services to Bedwyn yet.
But unless it has gained some method of having seat numbers and a method of being able to hold seat reservation slips, it will be like a 350 on LNWR having coaches being lettered A-B-C-D.
I assume you mean LNR? I don't think Network Rail operate 350s.
In any case, the 350s when they are being reliveried (at least the full relivery on the 350/1s and /3s) are having the coach letters removed, much to the displeasure of the people who used them to carry out their job!
That might be the 6-car Turbo I saw
