So the only "good old comfy" ic70 type seats and tables are in the brake (A) coach now then, I'm sadly inclined to think they're getting pulled out on the refurb so best to make the most of them while we can then?

Oh you haven't lived if you haven't tried sleeping on one of those seats for 8 hrs! ;)

Last nights 1A40 Penzance to Paddington sleeper had brake problems at Truro. A fitter attended from Long Rock and made a temporary repair to locomotive . Train departed 107 minutes late and ran non stop to Plymouth.

Just looked up last night’s 1A40 Penzance-Paddington on Real Time Trains and it Shows it stopping at booked stations after Truro, it made up about 40 mins between Exeter and Reading, arriving Paddington just over 60 mins late.

Did it really? RTT shows it arriving and departing within the same quarter minute-apart from Liskeard where it departed before it arrived-so I am guessing it didn't actually stop at any of them.

I have just looked at Real time Trains again, and some of the station stop times are odd, which makes me think it is data anomaly rather than not stopping Truro-Plymouth, as if it did misss out stops, then what happened to passengers at the missed stops?

Well the sleeper did not depart Plymouth until after the following voyager arrived from Penzance - maybe it brought them?

I suspect sleeper was non-stop, as a data error at all stations Truro-Plymouth only on one train only seems odd

1A40 did miss out a couple of stops, the XC service swept up any passengers at the stops missed.

Just booked tickets for my first ever sleeper from Paddington to Penzance. Hope I can sleep sideways while the train is going forwards!

You manage to sleep on a spinning lump of rock that is hurtling through time and space!

I've done many Sleeper trips, including multiple consecutive nights. It's quite comfortable, and I think it would in fact be less comfortable if you were longitudinal rather than lateral.

Does anyone know the time the sleeper stock rolls in to Paddington ready for the 23:45 departure

Unsure of the boarding times London end since the change from OC to Reading but should be advertised on GWR website.

Be aware, roadworks from Mon 19 mar to Thurs 22 so only going too either Truro or Plymouth. Being prepped at LA.

For those wanting ye older SLEP, we shall be down to just 1 from 2nd week Feb as 10590 is due back from Wolverton next week along with a new berth blind roller mechanism.... !

New lounge 10217 still due end Feb and first to be done A coach brake , in march.

Hi, can someone confirm that Sunday nights Cornish Riviera Coach D, Berths 21L and 22U are in the same cabin?

Thank you.

Indeed they are, I'm in there myself...not on the same night obviously! Basically, 1 is the first lower bunk, with 2 above it. 3 is next lower bunk, 4 above etc. Having said that, up to 13 are usually single rooms anyway-the upper berths are still numbered and there, but folded away into the wall.

With the blinds down I find so no reference points outside the train I can't even work out which way the train is going. When I wake up on the Highland Sleeper I'm invariably surprised that we're not going the way we were when I went to sleep, even though I know it will have reversed at Edinburgh.

Do you have access to lounge when boarding at Paddington?
Hi Anthony,
You certainly do, the first class lounge (on platform 1) is open to all passengers with a berth booked, opens at 2100. Free drinks and light refreshments are provided, but from personal experience take care with the free wine, I didn't!! :)

Nearly there then! I'm waiting for all the stock in service to be the referbished variety... much as I might plan knowing my luck I'll end up with an unreferbished one!
