Don't suppose anyone knows the HST workings this coming week? (W.C 18.8)
And to answer my own earlier question, the HST does not appear to be out and about today.
Sat 24th August: 0701 HUL-STP, 1119 STP-HUL
Sun 25th August: 0817 HUL-STP, 1237 STP-HUL
Subject to the usual disclaimers - things may change!
Managed to get the HST and a 180 at East Midlands Parkway this afternoon. The 180 looked like it only had a handful of passengers on. I'm not sure what the power cars were but it looked like the front one was 43023.
It was 20 and 23 when I saw it on Wednesday. They seem to be the regular pair and I don't think they've swapped since then.
Surely the Hull Trains crews don't have route knowledge of the Midland Line, did they have conductor drivers?
Yes. Appeared to be West Coast Railway at St Pancras.
Out of interest if any drivers can answer, in the cab, how does route conducting work, does the conductor give continuous instructions, like any braking points, awkward sighted signals, next line speed increase or decrease etc? Is it very much just instructions given or does one chat normally? Is it more stressful than normal driving?.
the numbers 43023 43027
and the other set is 43010 43020
I believe if the conducting driver signs the traction they have to drive the train.
Thank you for confirming.
43023/43027 stabled up at Hull Paragon this morning.
Shots of the Hull Trains 180 approaching the preserved St Albans South box Sunday afternoon:
(And apologies for having to include Network Rail's mess in the second shot!)
The down train appeared to be well-loaded, by the way.
Have swopped over today. 43010/020 now stabled up at Hull Paragon.
Are HSTs still in use with HT or has it stopped?
there still in use its out tomorrow 08.23 11.48 15.12 18.48
Edited sorry, my comment was irelavent
don't know what you mean sorry ?
I originally commented about times, then realised what I asked for was wrong, so I said irrelevant, ie asking for a mod to remove my comment.
ok no worries never saw that post
Is an end date known, please?
Far as am aware its the 31st dec
There was a St Philips Marsh to Hull move this morning which only got as far as Westerleigh Jn before going back to St Phillips Marsh (after reversing at Chipping Sodbury). Anyone know why?
Flooding further north.
You mean a start date??
would anyone be able to say if the HSTs are out tomorrow please?
It's not out unless there's an issue with one of the 180s which means it's unable to complete its diagram so it's not possible to tell whether the HST will be out unless there's a major fault (amongst many) with the remaining fleet
ah ok thank you for that info was worth asking anyway
Question: Is an HST set assigned to Hull trains as a kind of hot spare? Where does it live when " on call"?
