Thanks 507021. Ramsey does have some school services but the buses used for the AM school duties I suspect head off to Douglas to swap for other "prepared" buses in order to perform the PM school duties from Ramsey.
One final thought on Tours why don't they standardise on Volvo coaches to reduce sets of parts? I only suggest Volvos because they are more common than Temsas or King Longs . Obviously the minibus is going to be the odd one out!

Ramsey needs at least three buses for first/last route 3, 5 and 6 journeys plus the MB Sprinters for the northern villages. Likewise Port Erin has to have a couple of buses for the Douglas routes and schools.

Generally, bus swaps occur in a few different ways. Some examples I can remember:

1) I'd do a journey to Port Erin, have my break at the depot, then take something else for the rest of my duty which ended in Banks Circus.
2) A StreetLite would do a southbound 3 in the morning, then that or another StreetLite would do the "return" journey in the evening.
3) I'd take a StreetLite up to Ramsey on a 3 first thing in the morning, then I'd leave it there and take something else on a southbound 5 back to Douglas.

Bear in mind this was a few years ago, but I expect similar "swaps" still take place now.

With Tours, I think they just buy whatever's available and suits their requirements at the time.

Eleven more Sprinters have arrived, I understand they're replacing earlier examples.
