Six ex-GA mark3s are currently being moved from Long Marston to Leicester. There is a path tomorrow from Leicester to Bishops Auckland which may be connected.
They were 10406, 11101, 11093, 12154 and 12125. I'm not sure what the purpose of the move was though5 ex-GA Marks 3s moved to Cardiff Canton today. Anyone know what for?
Is the spare Arriva buffet car (10259) still at Canton? Possibly - and this is supposition on my part - being picked up for movement to Castle Donnington? They were 10406, 11101, 11093, 12154 and 12125. I'm not sure what the purpose of the move was though
Believe that is exactly what happened. Is the spare Arriva buffet car (10259) still at Canton? Possibly - and this is supposition on my part - being picked up for movement to Castle Donnington?

Silver set or the 'new' ex GA one? Both are for disposal I believe.Have seen a pic of a Chiltern slam door Mk3 on a low loader. Presumably off for scrap ?. Can't ID coach.
Any info appreciated.

I think the dispensation has run out already. Don't think Children has any running to this year. The 'old' Banbury set was advertised for sale last year - didn't see any mention of it being sold at that time (Chiltern also advertised the ex-ATW sets, and those do seem to have been sold).
Is the 'new' set never going to be used then? Wouldn't be a surprise in the circumstances, of course. Last mention I saw it had been taken to Eastleigh for modifications.
When did / does its dispensation run to? Given the DfT approach to slam doors it's entirely possible that they wouldn't extend it further.
Children! A certain Budapest railway buying Mk3s and converting them to narrow gaugeI think the dispensation has run out already. Don't think Children has any running to this year.
The dispensation sadly has indeed run out - hence no further work being completed on the former Anglia rake in Eastleigh which was due to replace the Banbury set which was slightly more PRM capable. Thanks to Covid reducing passenger numbers, and the dispensation coming up, the decision was taken to dispense of this rake as well.I think the dispensation has run out already. Unfortunately I believe it's now stuck down there too - one of the Mk3's being LSL bogie fitted.
They come down to Eastleigh in consist on the 8th of April 2020, Presumably it wasn't checked at the time and only realised upon reaching Eastleigh. I cant remember which vehicle it is though. How did it get there?!
Presumably that set is owned by Porterbrook still? Seems unlikely that Arriva would have bought it given the anticipated short usage (they did own the previous set).

DC Rail Freight 60055 produces the unbelievable sight of a Class 60 hauling GA MK3 coaching stock during my daily exercise. The 'Tug' passes through Dunston on the way to Eastleigh for refurbishment with Chiltern Railways.www.flickr.com
As you can see from this photo dated last August, the rake was still there looking externally untouched and parked up. I have a feeling that at least one vehicle was touched inside, but it was to keep it's GA interior anyway - somewhat conveniently being largely Grey based anyway.

They will have to sort the lease out first. One of them is an FO, so presumably that one would have been fitted with a standard class interior (it will have been chosen because it had the PRM-compliant toilet).
Wonder what willm happen to them now? Scrap seems most likely.

According to the latest Today’s Railways UK, 11029 and 11031 have been moved from Long Marston to Wards Recycling, Ilkeston for disposal. I assume that is what was in the photo mentioned by Spirit555 in post #132
That’s the set Spirit555 meant when he said it was from the Banbury set I believeThose two were actually seated as TSOs (despite not having been renumbered), and were from the 'first' slam-door set (i.e. not the intended replacement which never entered service - and is still at Eastleigh?).
You could well be rightYes I did, the banbury "slam door" set. It is very possible the whole set will end up there is it not ?.
