Is it situational judgement or a mix this time? The initial tests online are certainly challenging![]()
It's usually an SJT followed by Error checking and then lastly the Verbal Reasoning test. Pass all of those and you'll need to put in your GCSE result certificates or statement(Must show you've achieve a C in Maths and English or equivalent) before a video interview. Is it situational judgement or a mix this time?
No. Edinburgh only in Scotland. There’s a train crew depot for TMs and caterers but that’s it at Aberdeen.Does anyone here know if LNER has drivers based at Aberdeen station please?
Yeah I’m wondering too as I don’t know where mine are as it was 14 years ago!I do wonder how long they'd give one to get their certificates sent by an exam board. Completely forgot they request the documents immediately after the assessments.
The SJT and Error checking? Sorry to hear thatFailed the assessment![]()
Was the SJT (the one right after the application is submitted) ☹️The SJT and Error checking? Sorry to hear that![]()
If you didn't get verbal reasoning you may have failed error checking. Verbal reasoning came instantly for me.Has anyone done the online tests yet? Last time I did the SJT, Error Checking and then straight into the Verbal reasoning. This time no verbal reasoning, anyone else?
Ah man, the SJT can be tricky interms of scoring exactly what they want, also on the CV bit they don't mind the details EMR exclude as they don't seem to operate a blind shortlisting like EMR which means they'll use the Video interview for the shortlisting. I'd say the slight positive here is that you have time to find those pesky certificates or order somewhat replacements from the Exam Boards. If not I know you can do functional skills courses which are like 3 day courses and are equivalent to the C grades required. I found my results statement and used that which shows my Grades plus linked the exam officers email incase. That should be enough but I also have the certificates on the way.Was the SJT (the one right after the application is submitted) ☹️
Good luck! Yeah the SJT is tricky. Passed GA’s one but other than the holding pool never got anything back. And on the job link it does say they prefer to remove as they operate it blind as wellIf you didn't get verbal reasoning you may have failed error checking. Verbal reasoning came instantly for me.

My young carelessness has cost about £180 but hell its nothing in comparison to any opportunity on the front office of the Iron roads!
Ah fairs. Yeah those GA holding pools can be quite a swim, I'm still in one myself haha.Good luck! Yeah the SJT is tricky. Passed GA’s one but other than the holding pool never got anything back. And on the job link it does say they prefer to remove as they operate it blind as well
Just apply anyway, if you have lost both lives you have nothing to lose but everything to gain. If you get to the point where they were gonna invite you to do the Psychometric Tests they would check the database via your National Insurance no, if you’d failed twice you’d find out then. The OPC, despite being the supposed custodian of the Psychometric Test database/whatever, they are next to useless when you contact them unfortunately. Is their anyway to check if you have lost both your 2 strikes. I did my assessment about 10 years ago.. I definitely remember failing once but the 2nd time I am not sure if it was just the benchmark required by TOC. I tried emailing the OPC no response.
I don't want to waste their time and mine by applying and then be told I can't sit the assessment.
Thanks.

Same here! It’s odd as I passed all the assessments in January and got through to the video interview. Must have answered slightly differently to last time!Failed the assessment![]()
I didn't see the blind cv bit myself on their website, as for certificates LNER are pretty strict I believe on having relevant proof of the C grade or above in English and Maths.Have completed all the online tests when completing application, I’m now at the stage where it won’t let me submit without sending GCSE proof. I sat them over 30 years ago and the certificates are well and truly lost! Don‘t know which board they were sat with. Any ideas of a way around this?… I’ll try and send an email and see what they say….. maybe I’ll be classed as too old for an apprenticeship!?!
Also, I noticed someone on here mentioned about sending a blind CV? I looked for that in the section to upload CV but didn’t see a mention of that. Was that stated? Perhaps I need to go to specsavers if so!
That’s a thought I might email the school. Never know my luck.I didn't see the blind cv bit myself on their website, as for certificates LNER are pretty strict I believe on having relevant proof of the C grade or above in English and Maths.
You could try a 3 day function skills course or ideally if you have any peers or friends still with their certificates that sat the exams with you it will show the exam board on their statement of results.
Alternatively if the school is still around they may still have you on the system somewhere.
If you've managed to get all 3 tests that means you've not failed at least the first two. If you get to the add certificate / proof of grades stage it means you've passed all 3 online tests. That’s a thought I might email the school. Never know my luck.
Do you know if by getting as far as the adding English/maths certs on the application, after completing the tests they got us to do, does that mean the tests were passed or can we still be told we failed them. (Sjt, errors and the comprehension passage ones)?
Ok thanks. I managed to pass all 3 of them then but stuck with the supplying of the certs issue right now. Fired of an email to my old school hoping and emailed lner to let them know. Think it says i have 5 days to supply the certs. If you've managed to get all 3 tests that means you've not failed at least the first two. If you get to the add certificate / proof of grades stage it means you've passed all 3 online tests.
Amazing, wasn’t sure if I passed the last test or not, but have got given the option to add proof of gradesIf you've managed to get all 3 tests that means you've not failed at least the first two. If you get to the add certificate / proof of grades stage it means you've passed all 3 online tests.
