Northern have 9 ex-LM 150s at present and are due 18.

LM are due to retain 3 units and 150001 isn't allocated.

FGW apparently have their full allocation.

So there are 12 x 2 car 150s left (after reforming) which means 9 of them are for Northern and 3 to stay at LM.

You've done some bad maths there

132 would have been the 11th ex LM unit delivered to Northern.
103 would be the 12th

LM are due to keep 3 units (105,107,109)

FGW are due 2 more (124, 125)

Had my sentimental last ride on a 150 this afternoon from Moor Street to Solihull. I have some fond memories of those trains, especially on the Chase Line in the 1990's and early 2000's.

But on the way back to Moor Street I had my first ride on a 172. I felt strange being on a train where the interior layout is similar to that of a 170 (minus seatback tables), had the acceleration of a 150, the outside appearence of a 170, the through connections of a 158 and the automated anouncements from a 350's.

But there's far less engine volume than a 150, a more comftable ride, a pleasent interior environment, and you can walk the fall length of the train when they're couples together.

I think they're great and a worthy replacement for the 172. It's a shame enough units were not ordered for them to replace the 170's on the Chase. But I have no douts is suggesting these are the trains that should be used for replacing 14x's and 15x's in the long term.

The only downside I can think of is the rather annoying pulic announcements that are made upon arrival and departure from every station. The same problem exists on LM's 350's. And they could also do with seat-back tables as well.

Out of interest. Anyone know what the three 2 car 150's that are staying with LM will be used for.

2 for Marston Vale and 1 for Nuneaton-Coventry, or am I just guessing?

Seen at Bolton station last Tuesday

Central Trains still exist!

I'm not a train spotter so I didn't get the unit number but it took my by suprise that Northern had these.

If it was 4 cars long chances are it was 113 and 116 coupled together on a VIC - BPN run, they suit the route really well...

The're horrible inside though, drowning in brown, first time on one this evening.

Brown? I don't remember much brown. Cream maybe on the panelling but I wouldn't say there's an excess of it though, there is some brown in the vestibules but not a lot.

IIRC I think it was only a 2 car setup.

On another note I think I have seen an ATW unit in Bolton doing a Clitheroe to Man Vic Run. It was definitely going to Vic

If got the following as going to Northern from this thread and another thread on a different forum: 150110, 150111, 150113, 150114, 150204, 150210, 150214, 150226, 150132 and you're saying 150103 has gone as well, which gives 10 so if there's 12 there must be another 2. Which other 2 units have been transferred to Northern?

Looked brown to me, as did all the crud where Northern have removed signs, and round the edges of the cylume mounting, and the massive hole in the bulkhead between the seat and door D1 on 150113 DMTL...

The three main moves were

150111, 150114, 150204 ~11 October

150113, 150226, 150110, 150210, 150214 ~ 14th October

150116, 150117 ~ 24th October

That makes 150132 the 11th

When (or if it already has) 150103 goes it'll be number 12.

I liked the old CT interior — maybe you're too used to northern interiors. :)

How do the seats stack up to the rest of Northern's 150s? I can't stand the ex-FNW refurbished units personally.

The're the origonal seats, warn out padding but not uncomfy.

In need of a deep clean and a lick of paint inside though, although I don't think these units will get it until DDA modifications are made.

Standard Weekday use should be

1 for Marston Vale (other diagram a 153)
1 Spare at Depot
1 on a diagram involving a trip to Hereford (this is due to maintaing route Knowledge for swapping the units about)

Can we have the orphan cars with Northern please...?
Only if the Mancunian passengers can hold their bladders, so no late Friday/Saturday night trips then.

Isn't there 150 001, 150 002 and the two orphaned toilet-less cars still up for grabs?
Indeed, with 57209/12 currently at Eastleigh, hopefully for the fitting of a toilet to one of those carriages. It's an absolute waste having a completely serviceable Sprinter out of service when there is such a major stock shortage, though I wonder if those two vehicles will become guinea pigs for all the fully DDA compliant features that will have to be fitted to any Sprinters remaining in service after 2019.

I imagine the 150s may fare better than some of the other Sprinters with DDA stuff, aren't the 158s doors too narrow?

Due to multiple incidents on the snow hill lines this morning my usual 172 operated service (07:46 DTW-WOF then 08:04 to Whitlocks End) was operated by 150019, which I was pleased to see: I took one of my last opportunities to stand next to the cab of 57220.

Do you also think the seats are more comfortable than some of the Northern Rail seats? Or maybe it's just a novelty factor :D
