Potential trouble at Crewe.
1F14 (to Liverpool) and 1S52 (to Glasgow) both delayed into Crewe, and are now on the slow towards Winsford.
1F40 (LNR to Liverpool) on the slow adding to the complexity, currently at Crewe.
Looks like 1F14 has just cleared Weaver.

Line speed through Preston is 35mph already, so is this an extension of the normal restriction?
And I suppose it’s so much more difficult to relax the line speed nowadays. BR never had to worry about TPWS activations.

The TPE is looped at Lockerbie to let The Royal Scot pass it. Nothing else in its path from what I can see.
The one you provided the link for shows 1S51 following 1Z57 from Carlisle at 13:27 although the passenger timetable has it departing at 13:13.

Looking at RTT, the TPE train will likely sit in the platform at Carlisle for 10-15 minutes to let the run past!

I was misled by this as well - it looks like the normal WTT is for the train to leave Carlisle at 1317 and call at Lockerbie at 1333. But as you say they'll hold it for 15 minutes today - presumably what they'll actually do is let it out right behind the record train?

So any passengers on that TPE have their own journey delayed due to this PR event...

Hope nobody on that TPE had a connection to make at either Motherwell or in Glasgow itself, but hey when did paying passengers count?

The revised timings have it arriving in Lockerbie 14 minutes late, Motherwell 10 minutes late but Glasgow Central on time, there's obviously a lot of slack in the normal schedule.

Anybody on the TPE will have a different journey time today, as a pre-arranged timetable alteration. The journey planners will reflect that, so they can't "miss" a connection they were never booked to make.

No, the advertised arrival and departure times haven't been changed and don't match the revised timetable because of following 1Z57 from Carlisle except for the arrival time into Glasgow.

EDIT actually there's a last minute alteration showing .... but that's because it's been detected as running "late", its published timings were never altered.

A valiant attempt by LNR at Stafford. Scotrail, it's over to you ;)

I'm looking forward to the Carstairs to Glasgow Central section - this will be challenging due to the large number of local services and flat junctions.

Anyone hoping to catch the 14:26 from Motherwell to Dalmuir via Glasgow Central Low Level will be disappointed I expect.
