If the trains have traditionally run to Paignton (and there must be good reason for that) why not put the connection on for Plymouth, that way you’re still adding something but in the same hand not taking something away that already exists each summer.

There’s already been a consultation about taking XC services away from Torbay (replaced by connections) and that didn’t exactly go down well so can’t see anyone proposing it again any time soon.

Turbos should be cleared for Plymouth by next year if not this year so that would make sense too. But 6-car will be needed.

A Turbo has already worked to Plymouth in service covering for an IET between Exeter and Plymouth. Came all the way down from Bristol specially and then returned empty.

Thanks: nice to see that Plymouth finally receives a train on which I have trundled between Oxford and Reading since the early-00s!

To swing things back to this summer, it probably doesn't matter too much if the resorts etc. are not accepting holidaymakers this year.

Greater Anglia stepping up a few routes from Monday 18th. Southend-Liverpool St reverts back to every 20mins. Stansted Express, Hertford East, Cambridge & Ipswich to Liverpool St go half hourly. All other commuter & regional routes (except Ipswich-Peterborough which is 2 hourly anyway) will remain hourly. This includes Norwich-London Intercity. Only other change is Norwich-Cambridge which once again runs through to Stansted Airport.

Never heard of the "Sussex Scot". Which trains had that name?

http://1s76.com/ All you could possibly want to know about these services.

The Southern service started in 2008. A service from Watford Junction to Clapham Junction on Feb 25th remains, after eleven weeks, the penultimate train I have travelled on. (I travelled on 18 different services that day)

Newcastle to Liverpool is being stepped up to hourly from Monday 18th.

With Redcar to Manchester Airport (via Victoria) stepping back up to hourly too.
Manchester to Huddersfield stopper becomes standalone again.
Huddersfield to Leeds stopper becomes standalone again.

Are many of the alterations posted on here due to COVID alterations and not to the May 2020 Timetable itself ?

Pretty much all of Transpennine's changes are outside of the planned May 2020 TT Change, as most of the services are STP ones.
