Was this due to a fault? Isn't the Ormskirk line now half and half? Still need 3 PEPs on there to double-up the rush hour capacity. There were actually two on the Ormskirk yesterday.

Perhaps progress on the 8 car front. There was a test run last night Kirkdale to Southport with a double set. 001 and 018 doing the honoursWas this due to a fault? Isn't the Ormskirk line now half and half? Still need 3 PEPs on there to double-up the rush hour capacity.
Ah that's definitely good news! Hopefully we're on the cusp of fully switching Ormskirk.Perhaps progress on the 8 car front. There was a test run last night Kirkdale to Southport with a double set. 001 and 018 doing the honours
And with 8 cars instead of crammed into 4 cars. Are they actually doing something....right?Ah that's definitely good news! Hopefully we're on the cusp of fully switching Ormskirk.
Why, after more than 40 years, are people suddenly erroneously describing 507 and 508 units as PEPs? There were only 3 PEP units, the first P standing for Prototype. What followed was a series of units of different classes, derived from but not the same as, the PEPs.Was this due to a fault? Isn't the Ormskirk line now half and half? Please forgive a casual interest in the rail for using an incorrect nomenclature. Why, after more than 40 years, are people suddenly erroneously describing 507 and 508 units as PEPs? Spot on. The 507/8s are PEP-derived.Why, after more than 40 years, are people suddenly erroneously describing 507 and 508 units as PEPs? What difference does it make, if I say a Merseyrail PEP instead of a PEP-derived is anyone not going to know what I mean? Why, after more than 40 years, are people suddenly erroneously describing 507 and 508 units as PEPs? That’s quite alright. It wasn’t intended as a personal criticism, I just wanted to clear up any possible confusion. There may be younger contributors who may be misled into believing that there were ever more than 3 PEP units. Please forgive a casual interest in the rail for using an incorrect nomenclature.
A friend of mine refers to them as PEPs, replacing the P for Prototype with P for productionThat’s quite alright. Has any other train fleet introduction been quite THIS bad? I'm not sure i can recall anything where every day would see multiple failures of an already very small fleet, and for months on end. I find this level of failures frankly shocking?!A friend of mine refers to them as PEPs, replacing the P for Prototype with P for production
Im told 777007, 777012 and 777018 failed today due to a mix of comms/PIS/door faults. Unsure which suffered which or where or when!
The 230s say hi.Has any other train fleet introduction been quite THIS bad? I'm not sure i can recall anything where every day would see multiple failures of an already very small fleet, and for months on end. I find this level of failures frankly shocking?!

Neither these or 230s are NEW though. And both have ended up either being given up on or scaled back . Here's hoping Merseyrail nip these 777 things in the bud and send them packing elsewhere! Give me a 50x any day of the week!769s?
Unfortunately 50x can't run forever, parts and ageing vehicle structure will eventually stop it running.Neither these or 230s are NEW though. Nicely said.I can well imagine the sight of all those 777s on the back of Allelys lorries, but I guess they'll have to wait in line for all your Hitachi tat to be replaced by HSTs first
You can choose to be sarcastic about it. Personally I think Stadler should be held to account, for the good of the people of Merseyside and Cheshire. I know people who actually travel the lines they work on a daily basis, not enthusiasts at all by the way , and they are absolutely disgusted by the fall in service reliability, and the shocking seating and train ambience.I can well imagine the sight of all those 777s on the back of Allelys lorries, but I guess they'll have to wait in line for all your Hitachi tat to be replaced by HSTs first
Believe it was 777013 failing at Sandhills earlier.Looks like another one went pop earlier at Sandhills, quite a few delays
I've given up using Merseyrail for the time being. Ormskirk and Kirkby lines have both become too unreliable to be able to know you're going to actually get to your destination. I'm having to use the bus if I want to get to Liverpool, or Northern for anywhere else. You can choose to be sarcastic about it. Which is amazing considering how long they actually took to get them there!Believe it was 777013 failing at Sandhills earlier.

Watching all the enthusiasts come here for a morning, fall in love the train and then leave again is a bit tiresome now, knowing they they don't have to deal with the regular cancellations. They have their good parts don't get me wrong, but they're still fundamentally flawed and feel like they've been rushed into service..
They've gone from relatively simple trains to relatively complex trains, I was expecting some issues but not to this extent. They started at the end of January but there doesn't seem to be any levelling off of issues yet. When does teething problems get accepted as just general faults with the units?Which is amazing considering how long they actually took to get them there!
I would have a look at any of the threads on here about any new trains since forever. This level of faults is entirely typical, for all sorts of reasons. They haven't. People have just got bored of posting failures but they have still regularly been occurring. They have been much better in recent weeks though. It just seems they are throwing a hissy fit for some reason this week
This level of faults isn't entirely typical at all. Daily failures requiring removal from service when only a handful of units are in service.
