The slightly ironic thing is that it's very possible we've worked a turn together in the past and never been the wiser!

That was what I was wondering! Do you not even get to say hi before you get on?

Not sure where that went though...

If I'm working with a driver who isn't from my depot some may say hello as they walk up to the cab before the start of a job. But quite a few of them are anti social old sods.. ;)

I always say hi if the guard is on the platform or wave at them if they are in the cab, some (seemingly the same depots all the time ;)) just ignore me but I like to be polite to my mate for the trip.

That wouldn't be a certain depot based at a London mainline terminus would it? :p

its 2 depots both beginning with the same letter but I am not willing to say which letter although the terminus based one seems to be the worst!

I also seem to lose more time when working with guards from that depot than any other as well.

I've never been mistaken for staff on a station when out of uniform but have been in the past frequently asked whether I work on the railway, despite being in full uniform, including name badge and carrying a radio.
