When moving from one TOC to another that has completely different traction, (electric to diesel), is there a group standard in terms of practical handling of any new traction? I'm thinking along the lines of a certain amount of hours under instruction?

I'm sure someone mentioned to me that someone moving passenger to freight had to have 25 hours 66 handling or something.

I got 4 hours handling when I converted from diesel to electric as stipulated in the traction course.

I had about 5 minutes when I learnt 08s. Moved one light engine to the end of the siding and back and was signed off on them.

You will go with an instructor and when the instructor is satisfied that your handling is sufficient they will advise management, however some companies have a group standard ranging from 30 hours to 150 hours. I have found that freight to passenger needs more handling than electric to diesel and visa versa.

I had 1 hour 20 minutes in a class 168 coming from locos but I had driven class 175's before that are a similar set up.
