I honestly cannot remember two interviews. Things may have changed, it was a long time ago now for me.

Congrats t o m :D what do you want to specialise in? X

Fingers and toes crossed for you paul. X

Thank you. I'm hoping to do signalling and track is my second choice. I didn't hear them mention anything about two interviews at my assessment day.

Prepare well for your interview. It's with those people you will work for on a day to day basis, and they have to feel you'll bring a positive bearing to the depot.

T o m- cool I've specialised in signalling and track as my second too lol great minds think alike lol

Hydro- thanks for all the useful tips you are posting. How positive is it looking for people who have been selected for an interview? Especially out of all the people that applied only like 1400 got chosen for assesment day?

Ajwiggan- congrats to you. I had a tx lol made me giggle and glee with pride lol yay

It's definitely a positive stage to be in. The odds are starting to be stacked in your favour, because this stage you probably have the most control - the interview. It's the one stage that you can get the best idea of what's expected of you and prepare accordingly. I can't tell you that if you've made it this far, you've got x chance of making it in, but so far you've shown all the qualities they're looking for, so what's to stop you going all the way?

Well done everyone. Just hope I don't fall at the last hurdle.

In regard to how positive it is getting this far...

This is very rough by the way.

Let's say there were 120 people at Coventry (about right?). There are 800 people getting to the interview stage out of the 1400, so thats a 56% chance of passing the assessment. So if 56% of people from the Coventry assessment passed, thats a total of 67 making the interview. There are 28 vacancies on the list they gave us at Coventry, so therefore you have about a 41% chance of passing the interview. You need to take in to account that some depots have more places than others, also Derby is on the sheet twice for some reason, so there may be a few less than 28 places. But of the 800 people at the interview stage and there only being 200 places for the scheme overall it's a 25% chance of passing the interview. As I have said previously, although there are 800 people making the interview you are not against every single one, there may be only 4 people applying for your particular depot, so it could just be you versus 3 other people.

I hope that makes sense and isn't a load of rubbish!

I gathered from the assessment day that they were only about 400 that got through to interview stage

I'm sure they said 800 at my assessment and kelsey has quoted the same figure in one of her posts. If it is 400 then thats even better!

I'm only going by what I was told, maybe they have changed it since then but I was told:
- 8000 initial applicants
- About 800 to assessment
- 400 to interview
- 220 final places

I think it was 8000 who pre-registered to apply and 10000 who applied in total. Anyway we've done well to get this far whatever the figures!

Thanks desirokma.

Just curious how difficult the numerical reasoning test is. Can anyone remember any examples?

That's ok :D you will enjoy the day as a whole. Its a wicked experience just in the assesment day itself.

The numerical reasoning a lot of people found ok
If I remember correctly my test order was:
Evidence finding
Reading text and find answers to the questions
Mechanical comprehension
Things like "out of a wheel with a centre pivot and a 12 o'clock pivot, which would create more turns (this is not an accurate example just what I can roughly remember)
Numerical reasoning
Basically testing your maths skills, measurements, sums things like that (calculator provided lol)
Fault finding
This you will understand more when u see have an input process output. Basically you have to find which of the questions has a fault. Identify and locate

Fault finding was the one quite a few people struggled to get their heads round
(As I want to go into signalling I found it a breeze I would need to really lol)
If there is anything else I can help with feel free to ask :D

Thanks for your help. That has eased my mind a bit. Gonna do some practice this week and touch up on a few things. I want to get into signalling too, good luck with your interview.

I think you may have been in my group desirokma. Group K?

For the fault finding exam I was using this to practice (I'll share it now i've passed! ;)).

http://www.psychometric-success.com...Success Fault Diagnosis - Practice Test 1.pdf

The ones you get at the assmessment day are easier though, so if you can do the ones in that example you should be ok.

The maths is like basic GCSE, working out areas, percents and so on. Some are really easy, there was one something like 'If four spark plugs cost £6.40 how much does one cost?'. The english is easy, if you can read you should pass, just take your time though.

For some reason I think the interviews are at the depot where you have applied to work. Ahh right, it's just that my group did the exams in that order too and I know some groups did them the other way round. Are you the girl that was on about pulling boys ties and pendolinos?
