I notice the advert says 'Manchester depots'..... It usually says Picadilly or Victoria. I have a friend who believes this advert is for several locations, including Buxton..... Has anybody any idea if this is true???

Man was on yesterday ?

I was on about the one before Christmas. I am surprised I even got to apply for the Wigan vacancy considering when the vacancy went on. Just have to decide whether to go to Swindon on Wednesday for fgw assessment day. Worried if I fluff it I'll scupper the Wigan job, but if I don't go and miss out on Wigan I could miss the boat completely? ??. Dammed if I do. ......

Sadly it wont let me apply for this vacancy because I live more than 60 minutes from Manchester.

Pity I would very much be relocating to somewhere very close to Manchester if my application was sucessful

I thought you couldn't apply when you have one already in? They do check

You can't apply if you have an open application with Northern. I got the knock back from the Man Vic vacancy before Christmas and shows closed on my profile with them. The assessment I have on Wednesday is with First Great Western for their Oxford opening. I am thinking of cancelling it so as to focus on the Wigan vacancy with Northern, as I would very much prefer not to have to relocate, but I am caught between the Devil and the deep blue sea.

Decision taken out of my hands by a whopping throat infection  Even if I got down there, I'd most likely fluff the tests as I'm doped out at the minute. They say everything happens for a reason, so am staying positive. Just hope I get through to next stage with Northern now.

Settling in to the waiting game now. I hate this bit. The wait to know whether or not you've made it to the next step??? Can't settle, like a cat on a hot tin plate.

Lets hope so. Sooner rather than later. Just hope that it's a positive reply this time. Starting to worry that I'll come across that I want it too much lol. Almost desperate

I've heard nothing yet. Hoping that it is simply because they have been busy with the Manchester vacancy before Christmas.

hi guys. I just got an email for an interview for trainee driver position @ Manchester Picc depot. Dead excited.
On the email I received it says that effective from 30th Oct 2013 northern has adopted a revised Driver Psychometric assessment which has been developed by the RSSB. How does this differ from the original assessments.

Good luck to those being interviewed. There is plenty of info out there regards the new assessment process if you research.

Man depots , don't give up yet
NEVER!!!! lol I am going to keep going until THEY give up and interview me. I just know if I get a crack at the interview and tests, I've got a decent chance. Always find these example based applications a bit iffy, as they can often be contextually misunderstood. Just need to keep practicing them.

Made up for you Louby. Fingers crossed for you on the interview.

Fingers crossed you hear something, there will be more than one day for interviewing, and it was Wigan you went for wasn't it?

Yes, I applied for Wigan. From what I have been reading this is major depot for their recruitment. I wonder if they are bringing in more Traction to cope with the increase in customers now FTPE have moved their routes from/to Manchester/Scotland to go through Bolton since the electrification.
