Funnily enough, there are 84 Leyland Super-Sprinter vehicles in total which would, in a parallel universe, make an 18-strong fleet of 3-car units for semi-rural medium-distance services. Without doing the maths, EMTs Skegness/Lincoln/Ivanhoe/Crewe/Worksop services would seem an ideal home for them.

The other repainted 3 car 158s kept their purple seats presumably as I have seen no pics of 158s with the finalised seat covers

Do you know if the new seat covers will be moquette or the same cheap 'office chair' fabric as the other refurbs?
Given that the 158s have to last a little longer than the 150s it would make sense to go with moquette.

The 170 refurb is flat cloth (as shown here in #135), so, I'd place a bet on the 158 being fitted with the same… of course, it's a ridiculous decision which is backfiring, but, alas - someone's been sold a lemon.

The 170 refurb is flat cloth (as shown here in #135), so, I'd place a bet on the 158 being fitted with the same… of course, it's a ridiculous decision which is backfiring, but, alas - someone's been sold a lemon.

Isn't the 158 situation temporary anyway? Seats to be replaced with the "ironing boards on steroids" ready for the launch of Northern Connect... or have the plans changed?

At least the 158s are clean. The "refurbished" 150s, 153s and 155s are still horrible and dirty.

It appears that 319372 is the odd one out in Northern's fleet of 319/3's.

Only just noticed, but it has declassified first class seats as in the 319/4's.

On the 15:28 LIV-CRE service this afternoon.

Silly question time here, but why do you think it is backfiring? It may not be to the approval of this forum but is there another reason why its a bad decision?
