Don't know if this has already been brought up, but I did notice some slight variations on 753 that aren't on 752/756. Perhaps this is why it was away for so long, there's some dark blue (practically black) panels where there was white, throughout the train. The most noticeable being the walls at each end of the passenger cabin. Slight variation, but makes it look much better and a bit more normal than just full white.

The white in the vestibule area is really helpful, and makes the units seem less claustrophobic. The end walls of the saloon don't really need this, so if that's how the rest will be done that's probably a good thing. Easier to keep clean and probably makes it look a bit less clinical.

I saw a class 150 unit outside Wabtec in Doncaster today which looked freshly out of the paintshop in the old Northern Rail colours of blue and purple (without names) Is this livery still being applied? Is the new Northern livery just for certain classes?

I think the old livery is being re-applied to units which have had just had the PRM modifications, ad the new livery is being applied to units which have had the interior refresh as well as the PRM modifications.

I was on 158753 from Garforth to York yesterday, and back since its schedule happened to coincide with mine! Was generally fairly impressed, though obviously it'll be great when the information screen will be fully operational

What a boring moquette if it is moquette? Looks a bit like denim from the photo. I can't remember ever seeing a plain covering before. 'Cheap' springs to mind comparing with 158 quality refurbs by other franchises..

In fairness, the 319s aren't in the full livery, they're just in base white with dark blue doors.

The only 319 currently in the full livery is 319456, which is at Loughborough being fitted with diesel engines.

Means it won't get trashed so easily by the "last train on a Friday or Saturday" lot?

The interior looks a bit bright to my taste. The 158's used to have a pleasant subdued atmosphere.

So unless it's the 158 then rust bucket 155 346 returns after a year away. Lets hope my knees will fit in now.
155's surely the worst of all dmu's.
K

I doubt 158754 will be back that quickly, it'll be 155346 coming back today.

That's the next one up, so far unrefurbished. Given that the first one took a year I'd be surprised if the second had only taken a day!

Oops, haha.

Fair enough, the refurbished one actually looks presentable. Now for a look inside to see if you can really polish a turd...

Given Northern's franchise runs until 2025 , that should be more than enough time to complete refurbishment of the 155s , as long as they keep up the breakneck pace that 346 was done in , and the refurb will be complete by 2023:D

Aye, the interior is far more important. Northern Spirit's 142 refurbishment is the current holder of the "shiniest turd" award... Will this 155 beat it?

Out of all the units done so far, the livery looks best on the 155. Would look more modern with the yellow lights like 150275 though.
