There was a case in West Yorkshire where a bus stop with a pole was upgraded to one with a shelter (at a cost of c. £10,000), only for First to withdraw the sole service using it a few weeks later. IIRC bus companies only have to give 56 days notice to the Traffic Commissioner before starting/ending or altering a route, so putting in a new bus shelter could have been planned a lot longer than that.

Any chance you could PM me the details of this one?

How about this for another abandoned stop which First claim to be still serving, and Arriva not, though Real Time Info for all operators has now been taken off.

When the 46 was renumbered 86 and rationalised with the 87 when they came to Arriva from First, there were sections of the 46 route uncovered iirc. This also happened when the 68 was revised and became the 46.

Can't remember which one it was now (a few years back), but it made both the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post as well.
