I've not noticed? I've seen pretty much all of them and I've looked at several principle GWR stations such as Swindon, Reading, Paddington and Temple Meads.
Really?
I was looking up some services at TM earlier today and hit 6 trains on the trot that had nothing allocated.

GWR suffered quite a lot of issues earlier today with signals being black at Didcot so they de-allocated quite a lot of train services and didn't necessarily catch back up...

However all said and done. Very excellent and welcoming to see gwr on realtime trains. Yes it can be expected an odd allocation to be wrong.
But far better that than absolutely nothing at all.
Again job well done to realtime trains and gwr for achieving this.
Will help me also in next fortnight to get 387204 which is always managing to escape me so much.
Thanks again.

second that..
Living in GWR land myself this is a real boon.
There's now a decent no. of TOCs on there, making this a very useful tool. Hopefully there's still more to come.
many thanks to the creator.

Myself too. I bet, however, station staff at stations with "scrums", particularly Euston, do wish it would go away as it undermines their poor method of operation :D
For some reason I ended up standing with VT gate-line staff and the driver of my train waiting to see which train we would be allocated and from where.
The VT staff had their own 'staff app' and some of them had handys but most of them were using RTT as they reckoned it was quicker.. and so it was. I didn't even bother looking at RTT then as they were as anxious as I was!
It was an ex-Birmingham service, the guard and onboard staff stayed on board.
I was there to greet the train and speak to the guard and had a few minutes to settle in before boarding was announced on the main screens with about 2 minutes to go.. well.. you can imagine the chaos!

I was on the 1441 Poole - Waterloo yesterday (1B28) which made additional stops at Swaything & Basingstoke but thse didn't appear on RTT instead showing as passing times. Presumably RTT uses data from the WTT so the departure time is taken as the passing time?

Tom & co., nice one on getting the GW allocations on, thanks. Noticed they appeared on my trip this morning.

Is there anyway to get RTT to show total journey duration from start to end station for a given run?

Just to pick up on your post back on page 33, Tom, as some others have said, I find RTT invaluable since I've become aware of it and I'm probably another who'd be 'happy' with a paid subscription or voluntary donations recognising the work that goes into RTT. I don't find adverts helpful in any medium, as I'm old enough to already have all the stuff I realistically wanted to buy.

One more to add to the list of ppl who would pay for RTT. Its a superb website; game changer. Hats off to Tom and his team

I too would welcome a subscription based, advert-free service. Actually my main concern is that RTT has become a little more clunky and slower (on mobile devices) since the change, especially when entering station names, unit / loco numbers or service headcodes into searches which has diminished the user experience a little.

Also possible due to even more users.
Due to at the same time the live rail record website no longer receives updates as from Thursday 11th November from 1950 pm. So more users for realtime trains. Double the bonus

I mean possibly, although I've never heard of live rail record.

Obviously it’s great that RTT offers so much for free but I’ve become so reliant on it that if a reasonable charge was brought out, I would willingly pay it. I would hate for it to close especially now that Know Your Train has become so so helpful

I had thought it was my mobile phone (not the newest) causing the slight annoying delay on the site, hadn't thought about it being potentially greater number of users or other factors. I would certainly pay a reasonable subscription. It's invaluable nowadays.

I've said this even before KYT came into place. Would happily pay! (but appreciate not everybody is financially in that position, not only at the time of the year but also post pandemic!).

KYT is the selling point for me. I’d pay as long as that was there.

KYT does not appear to be working for Transport for Wales services today

@Tom , a small request for RTT which I think would be easy to add.

Is it possible to put the symbols for bike coach etc. underneath the train picture for GWR trains, the same as you do for Avanti?

I think this should be possible using the "GWR Facilities Guide"

I think a future upgrade for the site is definitely user accounts and a charge to remove ads and/or pay for premium features, leaving the basic information free for common users with more modest needs.

One advantage of a user account is you can begin to set favourites/bookmarks (I realise you can literally just bookmark, but that's not quite the same) so you can access the same things on multiple devices.

I bought the Android app many years ago, but don't know how many others did (Play store says 5,000+ installs). I think people will pay for premium features. What they like less is anything obtrusive that 'spoils' the user experience. Even a tiny delay for something like checking realtime information can frustrate, which is almost certainly an overreaction - but we're used to clicking on something and getting instant gratification. If you can't get that platform number quickly, you'll feel the service is less useful and may well try something else.

Of course, developing such things costs a lot of money and I can't say for sure that a lot of people would pay (and I'd likely prefer to pay a one off fee than a monthly/annual sub) so I don't pretend to have a solid business plan.

I use RTT on my phone, which is an Android, but I'm using the actual website via Chrome rather than the app.

Me too now. I am not even sure I can install the app on newer devices.

However, I assume there was too much work on maintaining an app when websites can now work like apps and scale for different platforms very effectively. A lot of apps are merely web containers.

I think if I was asked to pay again, it would be for a unique login to allow additional functionality.

Yep, add me to the list of those willing to pay for no ads.

Any chance of adding a 'dark mode'?

I use the app every day on my phone running Android 12. Nothing else is as fast - two taps for the departure board for the station I'm nearest. Still works like a charm!

I shall go and check again. I think for a while a lot of apps disappeared (possibly because they were set on a whitelist approach, based on manufacturer, device ID, country or whatever) but maybe that has been changed.

Edit: It's still not visible on the Play store when searching on new phones.

A premium version of the site is being investigated and the business case for it is currently being developed out. We don't think the market for it is that huge in the grand scheme of things against all the users so it will need to be balanced out against development time/likely revenue benefit. It wouldn't be for purely ad-free functionality - that's a waste of time really and don't think the realistic cost that it would have to be charged at it would get many takers.

We are however investigating a slow-down in a lot of devices that have been caused by the ads particularly over the Black Friday weekend.

There's also continuing work going into the apps but I am having to juggle some of this with other work that is going on at the moment.

All sounds great, I would certainly consider a subscription myself.

In the meantime, I found that clicking the 3 dots in the top RH corner of Chrome on Android --> Add to Home Screen creates a nice quick way to get to RTT on your phone.

Glad it's not just me then - find it rather slow and painful to use on my work laptop! Though using it on my desktop PC seems fine.

Also an issue I've noticed is if you zoom into a page on mobile, the touch point is off. Kinda need the zoom as my eyes aren't the best :D
