    Hello folks,

If anyone has a spare few moments, could they tell whether Leeds to Selby is valid via any weird or wonderful routes - potentially via Church Fenton or (unlikely) via Doncaster or (also unlikely) via York (either route from Leeds, then York-Selby non stop via new ECML Hambleton North) please?

Also for Leeds to Hull if possible.

    Query from a friend.

Valid Routes from Leeds [LDS] to Selby [SBY]:
    1. Direct trains from Leeds to Selby
    2. Shortest Route: 20.75 miles
      • Leeds
      • Cross Gates
      • Garforth
      • East Garforth
      • Micklefield
      • South Milford
      • Selby
    3. Mapped Routes:
      LEEDS GROUP - Selby:

Map WY only gives you the direct route via Micklefield so no I don't think there are any "weird and wonderful" routes. Going via Church Fenton is more than 3 miles longer than the shortest route.

Valid Routes from Leeds [LDS] to Hull [HUL]:
    1. Direct trains from Leeds to Hull
    2. Shortest Route: 51.75 miles
      • Leeds
      • Cross Gates
      • Garforth
      • East Garforth
      • Micklefield
      • South Milford
      • Selby
      • Howden
      • Brough
      • Hull
    3. Mapped Routes:
      LEEDS GROUP - Hull:

Map TP only gives the direct route via Selby so again no "weird routes" unfortunately.

Thank you for your time and trouble. One aside - is Church Fenton-Selby valid via Micklefield perchance?

Since Selby is the appropriate routeing point for Church Fenton, only the shortest route is valid, and I'm fairly sure via Micklefield would be more then 3 miles longer (although with Railmiles down I cannot be 100% sure).

In reality, as the service between Church Fenton and Selby is so infrequent, I would imagine it would be accepted via Micklefield (although that is just an assumption).

There's an odd Easement which may be helpful for a journey between the Leeds area and Hull.
Why this operates to Garforth but not Cross Gates or East Garforth is a mystery to me.

I can only imagine this is because travellers have the added flexibility of the TPE services which call at Garforth only? Still seems a bit of an odd one though.

I think that is the reason, although some TPEs stop at Cross Gates rather than Garforth. The NRE website knows about the easement but suggests that only TPE services between Garforth and York are valid. It also only works in one direction. (I see this as evidence that the text easements which are publicly available differ from the easements implemented in the online engines).
