So yesterday (21/10) they were showing running 8 car units on the xx:30 services as well as the xx:00. But there seemed to be issues with congestion at Queen street (Possibly unconnected ?) Today they seem to be back to just the xx:00 being 8 car.Hopefully, they need to get all units in service before the timetable change as it should ensure a smoother switchover
It's good to see they're trying things out, plenty of time to get it rightSo yesterday (21/10) they were showing running 8 car units on the xx:30 services as well as the xx:00. It occurred to me today that, even within the last month or so, it seemed to be routine to have a Hitachi fitter sitting in a corner on any of the 385s I had been on, but I had not seen anyone like that for a while. So yes, they seem to be all settling in nicelySo have Hitachi and Scotrail now got on top of most system faults, doors ,brakes etc on these units now, and are they getting a hefty mileage per causality out of them.
Not heard of too many complaints lately so has the ride quality softened a bit and the, shhhhhhh, the seats!
Very true! It would be good to get the last delivered and the final 3 into service in plenty of time for the timetable change. I think that 441001 and 002 have already done the accumulation miles as they were test vehicles, so they could be put into service fairly quickly tbf. This thread mainly gets posted on when:
The lack of replies therefore indicates that most of the 385s are now in Scotland (except 002) and that they are operating pretty reliably.
- A 385 is delivered to Scotland
- Something goes wrong with a 385

I like having the luxury of a 385 at my local station (Newton)To summarize the 385 fleet:
Of the 46, 3 cars:
044 delivered 27th Sept not yet in service
001 delivered 9th Oct not yet in service
002 not yet delivered
All other 3 cars (43) delivered and in service.
Of the 24, 4 cars:
All delivered and in service.
020 worked todays 14.51 Cathcart Circle, it left Central 7 mins late and by the time it got Pollokshields West via Cathcart it was 11 mins late, I know this unit goes on to work the 19.03 Edinburgh via Shotts but I hope they get replaced on the Cathcart/Newton come December as they are not suited and wasted on these routes.
I agree, no rattles at all on any that I've been on. I don't find the seats hard either, comfortably firm imo.The 385s are absolutely fine. The only rattling as such I've noticed has been, as far as I can tell, been associated with wheelslip when accelerating or braking for stations. Only seems to happen in the wet I've noticed. Aside from that, at top speed, they're no problem at all.
Don't know if they will be replaced entirely on the Cathcart Circle routes but I'd be surprised if they were. They'll continue to work certain services I believe, mainly because to remove them entirely would require a wholesale change of the diagrams. The issue mentioned above would probably be more to do with a loss of path - it'd be behind the 1457 Barrhead - not to do with an inability to deal with the route. Whilst the units themselves are overkill for the line, as far as ScotRail are concerned it's ideal because all the drivers are already trained up.
Light engine cancelledNo light engine today, but another delivery path has appeared on Friday.
Anyone else noticed when heading to Glasgow on a 385, the passenger display will often say "The next station is Cowlairs South Jn." ? Anyone know why this is?
That is exactly why. Some non-passenger stops are incorrectly and accidentally inputted as passenger stops. Therefore, the PIS displays it.Perhaps it's a timing point, but the PIS thinks it's a station stop?

Does it actually say it correctly? If so, it probably means it’s using an electronically generated voice rather than splicing together recordings of a real person. I thought all the PISs up to now had used real recordingsAnyone else noticed when heading to Glasgow on a 385, the passenger display will often say "The next station is Cowlairs South Jn." ? There's no vocal announcement, only text on the display.Does it actually say it correctly? If so, it probably means it’s using an electronically generated voice rather than splicing together recordings of a real person. I thought all the PISs up to now had used real recordings
