I applied for 4 SWT jobs; 3 on the 14th of September and a mainline driver back in March. For the 3 I applied for on the 14th of September, the career online status it says "In Process". Does that mean I will be invited to an assessment? And for the mainline driver, the career online status says "Open". Can anyone tell me what this means?
Thanks!

"In Process" I imagine means you are in the process for applying for that job, so you may get a letter soon inviting you for an assessment. "Open" could mean they have yet to shortlist your application. If you are concerned about if you are getting anywhere with your applications phone up recruitment and ask for further infomation. It doesn't hurt and if anything shows you are keen.

You might be waiting a while mate... i applied for a job back in August.. went through the assessment centre, had my interview and have phoned up and emailed recruitment 3 times since and all i ever get told is they are awaiting the results of the interview...

Not quite sure why it has taken the best part of 2 months to decide who to hire but hey ho.

I suppose you have to get used to waiting in this industry and just hope that one day it pays off :P

SWT accept assessment passes up to 3 years old so yours has timed out and you will have to re-sit them anyway.

Have you rung them in the last 3 years to enquire about your application?

Hi all
I sat the assessments for Train driver back in May. I passed them and was due to sit the Structured interview but they froze recruitment. Does anyone know if Swt will recruit/need drivers in 2013??
Dave.

I've rung them a few times but they have just said they'll be in touch in the new year.

Do you know why they need a lot of drivers?? I hope this is the case as i'd really love to drive for them if successful at the Structured/Drivers interviews.

Dave.

From the 9th December this year the drivers have gone on to a new roster with a reduced working week. As a result more drivers are required to run the service, the rumour mill is currently doing its rounds and the word is the company do not have enough to make sure all turns are covered.

That's interesting, is this the European directive on fatigue? I don't know much about this but it seems as if it will create the need for recruitment at TOCs?

A few people on here have mentioned this new european directive about working hours yet we have heard nothing about it at all. Indeed our new diagrams have come out and the jobs haven't reduced in length at all.

Afaik it has nothing to with European working directives, it's simply what Aslef have negotiated with company for improved T&Cs.

Close but you are 12 months early, it is december 2013 when that happens.

They have just realised that the extra trainees they have taken on will only just cover for the numbers leaving/ retiring over the next year.

13 courses of 12 trainees next year I have heard which is the same as this year.

Sundays will still be part of the working week with no enhancement for working a Sunday. On the plus side they do have sick pay bonuses every 3 months

Hi I rang them and was told only a few course this year and depends what depot you have applied for and how far your up the depot waiting list you are.
Also told me to apply to other toc's if I didn't want to wait for Swt.
A bit deflated to be honest all the practice for tests and may be waiting till assessment has ran out !

Hi canman
Did they give you any info on what depots might need trainees?
Have you got through the interviews and what depot were you hoping for?
