Mortimer station is notable for its well-preserved Brunel-designed Great Western Railway station buildings, which are still in use. They are the only substantially intact survivors of this once-common design, although a much modified example exists at Chepstow.

The stations at Gloucester were also once linked to each other by a covered footbridge prior to their redevelopment to the current layout.

Abergele and Pensarn station was the location of a Camping Coach until early 2017; however, the Camping Coaches at Dawlish Warren are still in use.
