The station building at Gobowen was designed by Thomas Mainwaring Penson (1818 – 1864), who designed several stations for the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway. Amongst these were the station buildings at Ruabon, although they were replaced by a new station in 1860.
Although often being referred to with as that, the official name of that station is Llanfairpwll, which is significantly shorter. Conversly, Cark & Cartmel is often referred to as "Cark", despite it's official name being the longer version.
Dovey Junction is another station on the Cambrian Coast. It is the point where trains towards Aberystwyth and Pwllheli go separate ways, though not where they divide, that being at Machynlleth.
