Both Elmswell and Thurston are on the Ipswich to Ely Line; a recently opened station on that line is Cambridge North.

In May 1999, Midland Mainline commenced a daily weekday service to London St Pancras. This was withdrawn in 2008 by East Midlands Trains.

The station building at Carrbridge is thought to be by the architect William Roberts, dating from 1898. Another station where he worked is Brora, where the former station buildings, now unused, were built to his design.

Whereas Chathill is the terminus of a minimal Northern service from a major city, Newcastle, Goole is the terminus of a minimal Northern service from another major city, Leeds.

Goole is served by all trains on it's line, it being a principal station on the line between Doncaster and Hull. Another principal station on the same line is Brough.

Bolton, even though not containing the suffix 'Interchange' like Altrincham does, is connected to the bus station too.
