TPE trains to/from Glasgow or Edinburgh calling at Bolton do so on a "pick up only" or "set down only" to avoid overcrowding with local Manchester commuters.
The same arrangement applies on Avanti trains calling at Watford Junction.

Between 1898 and 1908, three successive Station Masters at Watford Junction moved on to the same post at Rugby station. They were George Tuley (at Watford between 1889 and 1898), Frederick Arthur Hawkins (at Watford between 1898 and 1902) and finally William Hedge (at Watford between 1902 and 1908).
