OK actually irritating that everybody's just given up on this and my one in the journey quiz. I thought they'd both get knocked for being too easy.

The answer I was looking for was they've all lost direct services to or from Northampton since privitisation, except Wolverhampton which retains a single service per day.

Trainfan344 was closest so I'd call you the rightful winner.

I would have preferred it the other way (Crewe, Preston and Westerton are all served by the Highland sleeper), but that'll do.

Trains arriving off the branch at St Erth are running in the "down" direction; at all the others they join the main line in the "up" direction?

This has been going on long enough. The answer is Slough as all the others have through services from the branch.

OK - try this:-

Netherfield, Bingham, Sleaford, Heckington.

Something to do with access.

All but Sleaford you have to access the opposite platform via a level crossing?

Right idea - but the wrong station. :D

[P.S. Netherfield is just an island platform - you access both platforms via a bridge and stairway.]

I mean Netherfield you have to access it via a set of steps but all the others access is on level ground?

Yes - fair enough - I'll accept that.

{I was originally thinking of Heckington where you have to cross the line to get from the eastbound platform to the westbound - at Sleaford and Bingham there are footbridges and at Netherfield it's just an island platform}.

However, Netherfield is also the odd-one out for the reason you state. Well done! :)

OK, try this:
Barrow-in-Furness, Blackpool North, Liverpool Lime Street, Doncaster

Think through services

Are you not supposed to give a clue as to the area in which you are looking?

Doncaster doesn't have through services to any of the other 3 stations. (Open floor if I'm right).
