On Sainsburys vouchers at the till, I have Nectar but only ever seem to get the incessant ‘£x off your first online shop’ voucher.
They have been quite good for me recently; this month I’ve had two £4.50 off a £30 shop and yesterday I got a £6 off a £40 shop. Haven’t had any in ages before this.

I can scroll through a range of offers but must pick.

The best option would be to auto apply vouchers that qualify but a lot of money has been spent to make it more likely you'll miss out that rather than benefit!
I think it’s right that you have to pick them, as the Personalised vouchers you only get two per week, and I might not want it to apply to that item.

The good thing is now that they automatically apply when you scan your card - previously you had to scan the vouchers as well!

Get similar but vouchers through the post but at Tesco, along with save £4 on my next £40 shop. I have had over a dozen of these but have never spent £40 in one shop so why do they persist in wasting time and money sending them to me.

Since Argos is owned by Sainsbury's that must be why standalone Argos stores have largely disappeared and are also part of the Nectar scheme. I also remembered when Sainsbury's used to have the fresh meat section which was closed since c. covid.

I am still frustrated by Sainsbury's selling the same Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) for different prices depending on whether you pick up on the aisle and put in your basket, or go to the in store (literally, as in you entering through the gate for the supermarket and being inside the tills) Argos and wait for them to give you the same thing for less money.

I know I'm in the minority as Sainsbury's and many others defend the policy. I say just charge the same or don't duplicate the stock. They don't even price match but will happily let you refund the item and return it to go and buy from Argos when you find out, thus leaving them with a now used product they're likely going to have to discount or return to a central warehouse.

Sad thing this week, - a letter from Waitrose saying that free newspapers will be stopped next Tuesday. Ever since the 'free newspaper when you spend £10' offer stopped and the electronic vouchers were started, I have had a voucher for a free newspaper everyday. Still, got lucky today, a £30 product (probably from the 'entertainment' section, 5 high value cheeses and a wooden cheeseboard, for £14.99.

Argos as owned by GUS was absolutely on its knees. The takeover by sainsburys and integration into their stores, along with the free delivery to your nearest Sainsburys Local has been fantastic for it. Hasn't done any harm that they've integrated in Habitat as well, so they've got decent buyers for the homewares.

I've gone over to the dark side.
I always refused to have anything to do with Nectar because I didn't see the value in it - the value of the information I was giving them exceeded what I might get from them.
But today I see that Sainsbury's intermittent "buy 6 bottles of wine and get 25% off" is restricted to Nectar card holders, and it's something I've made use of in the past. So I've signed up for a Nectar card for the first time. Perhaps I'll now start to understand what some of the posters here have been talking about!

You have to be careful with some of the offers on the Nectar app as it can become quite addictive (I suppose that’s the point of it, to get you to spend more money), but as long as you’re clever and only buy things with long / no expiry dates, it should still work in your favour. Sometimes you just need to stop buying things and the vouchers stop after a couple of weeks. Back in 2022 I was getting offers almost every week for 4 pack of baked beans that made them almost half price. In the end I just had to stop buying them because I had so many in and despite not having bought any in over two years I’m now down to my final single tin in the cupboard!

Good advice, thanks, I tend to be a bit of a food hoarder, so I need to discipline myself only to buy things I would have done anyway, despite the offers.

When you are living on your own in elderly years. the target set of the Sainsburys Nectar card vouchers is almost impossible to meet on a weekly basis, but using one per month when items are needed is quite possible.

I was talking to a single elderly lady shopper in the Sainsbury store at Cheadle Royal who says you can only buy a large tall tub of "Vanish"on top of her normal shopping just to meet the target Nectar voucher figure to store in the cupboard she stores them in, then finding that she already has six of them... :(

Morrisons seem to be having real app problems. The 10,000 points offer for spending £60 4 weeks out of 6 (memory permitting), still hasn't been apllied to many accounts (mine included). The website has said it'll be done within 48 hours for the last 2 weeks.

Called into Asda earlier and they were knocking out 600g tubs of Quality Street, Roses and a few others for £2.50. People were almost fighting for them near the entrance.

If you're a chocoholic the offer is on all weekend according to the advertising.

One person in the kiosk at Sainsburys dealing with a customer who was cashing in multiple lottery tickets. No sign of another colleague coming to help. Waited nearly ten minutes while a queue of around eight or nine people built up. Ridiculous.

Seems very cheap, was it like a buy 4 for £10 kind of offer?
Just look online, says 2 for £10 and the normal price is £6.

Its 2 for £9 but then £4 discount if using an Asda Rewards card, so another loyalty card only deal

I guess they have done away with their customer service desk. My local big Sainsburys have done that as I found out when I returned some TU clothing.

And the level of clothing returns has gone through the roof since they decided to close all the changing rooms

I didn't notice that on the sign, well spotted.

Asda force you to have their loyalty card on an App, so that's a no thanks from me.

Do you mean your 'pot' is credited with £4?

Well worth it, trust me. I installed it ages ago, forgot all about it, then checked it. £70 was in my pot! Think I was really lucky as they were going to expire in 3 days.

Do these companies not employ people to point these obvious things out before they do it?

I really hope they're not doing what Amazon does and getting all these returns, and ultimately chucking it in landfill as it's cheaper than reselling it. That would be a catastrophe for the environment.

On Thursday they were simply priced as £2 for £9 or £2 for £5 with your rewards card so you got them for a fiver. It was carnage in my local store (and presumably others) as the app was constantly falling over for everyone. A different queue was done on one self service machine and a member of staff was manually running them all through.

Appreciate the advice, thanks - if Asda gave you a plastic card like Tesco, Co-op etc. do I'd get one.

Never knew about in store reward card instant offers as I shop online.

I know, a bit daft isn't it?

No, its an actual (card only) discount

I complained in the store in Darlo and got a dismissive shrug and a "head office" comment. I complained to head office and got a bland email telling me I can return things that don't fit

How does this work out?

I bought a Jacobs product in Tesco last night and this morning I get an ad for the product on a social media account. Is data shared via my bank card or tesco clubcard?

My tesco club card points seemed to have reset itself. Says its been converted to a voucher last period. Can't seem to see or been sen a voucher.

The Sainsbury's reduced barcode issue was causing massive problems yesterday at my local store. Huge queues for the self service checkouts, as the single member of staff had to manually do all reductions. Surely it would be worth paying a few extra staff overtime to do a few more hours?

As it happened, I was buying entirely reduced items - 8 in total. Some of them had to be bodged, as the original barcode couldn't be scanned - so a previous item was rescanned, then reduced to the price of the unscannable item

Just received a Nectar mailing with money-off tokens for the next few weeks. The ones just finished were for £9.00 off a £60.00 total shop at Sainsburys, but the new ones are for £9.00 off a £80.00 total shop.

Since I live on my own and use one voucher per month, why should I need to spend an extra £20.00? The vouchers were all fed into my cross-cut shredder.
