Really been enjoying the Olympics so far, but haven't watched so much of it past couple of days.

What's the empty seats situation like at the moment? I must admit, whenever I hear it mentioned, this is the first thing that comes into my mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4MQtmIi_WU

Two golds in two rowing events so far this morning and a third race to come (so no pressure on that boat then ).

No pressure indeed! Something has just broken and the race stopped! :p

Yup never a dull moment!

Edit: They're going to be restarting shortly and the British crew are being allowed to race.

Gold for Jessica Ennis and a comfortable victory in the 800m to do it.

Edit: Aaaand now we've got gold in the long jump thanks to Greg Rutherford.

On the subject of Tennis thanks to Andy Murray and Laura Robson we are guaranteed at least 2 silver medals in tennis for the Men's singles and mixed doubles.

Gold for Mo Farah in the 10,000m - 6 golds today 14 in total. Our best one day performance for over a century.

Very impressive these last few days. Remember the comments here in the middle of last week? Now, after 'Super Saturday', we are looking like a force to be reckoned with.

BTW, how come Mo Farah is being interviewed with a medal round his neck and we're not seeing the ceremonies?

Great Britain have been knocked out of the football on penalties, losing 5 - 4 in the shootout to South Korea after drawing 1 - 1 after extra time. Not sure if there will ever be another Great Britian football team in the Olympics.

It wasn't the actual medal, just one he got given by someone in the crowd ;)

Ceremonies still to follow with Ennis coming along shortly.

Quite. I couldn't quite understand why everyone in the media and some on here seemed to be panicking or criticising the performance thus far as there was still a lot of time left and more importantly the events we're good at hadn't got going properly yet!

Wow what a day!

Six gold medals in one day (best in British Olympic History apparently) and not only that, we made and then smashed about six world records in the Veladrome these past two days.

As Gary Lineker just said at the end of the coverage; sports personality of the year is going to be interesting!

I'm surprised at my interest in the Olympics this year. Before hand I thought I'd be avoiding it at all costs. But I've actualy been interested. I've been watching our cyclists in the velodrome, and shouting at people when they turn the swimming off. Plus I watched the road race last Saturday.

I too have watched a lot more than I thought I would, though I've enjoyed the lesser sports more, particularly handball and water polo!

Got a ticket tonight to the basketball on Monday! :D

I'm going to try for the cycling too. I may or may not try for the athletics, but all I can think of is 80,000 people all coming out at the same time and all wanting to go home. :|

I watched the cycling today too.

In my experience sports that are not normally interesting can become very interesting indeed when you care about the result.

Team GBs success over recent days had made several sports I could not care less about quite enjoyable.

In the mens' football tournement, the usual penalty hoodoo that affects UK based teams came both before half-time and also in the end of the match shoot-out.

What external factor is the GB camp blaming? As is the tradition.

The GB football team never looked like they cared. Probably beneath them.

Who cares about those overpaid primadonnas, for once they are not the focus of attention and what a pleasant change that makes.:p

Adlington gets third, swimming has been very poor for us.

Michael Jamieson who got our Silver did a fantastic job , but unfortunately Rebecca was not up to defending her titles.

I don't know how much Lottery Funding swimming gets but compared to Rowing Cycling and Athletics it has not produced results.

Why ??????

Previous most gold medals by gb was 5 in one day in 1906. Yesterday we got 6.
Days like yesterday make me proud to be British.

Aye, shame I'm on holiday in rural NI and missed it isn't it! I just caught the round up on TV last night, and saw Farrah's race and the football team's defeat. Why oh why did Sturridge stutter his penalty, it makes it infinitly easier for the keeper to read your body language and stance!

I know, I really dislike it when players do that in penalty shoot-outs, they always convince me that they're going to miss... and he did :|

This, if nothing else, shows the futility of assembling a team from various diverse sources in a short period before a tournement and expect them to play as a cohesive unit. How many actual pre-tournement matches did this team play before the Olympic Games ?

They're all still professionals though aren't they? With all the fuss over who was referred to as Welsh, English, Scottish, the anthem (do you sing along or ignore it) and the rest, I feel that we probably shouldn't have even bothered to enter a team that clearly wasn't wanting to win.

Thank goodness the media has been mostly ignoring them, along with all the other celebs that normally hog the limelight - concentrating on people who deserve the attention, the praise and sending out the right messages to the next generation.

(Don't get me wrong - I like football, but there are lots of things about football I don't like and England (or Team GB) is one of them).
