Gold......for Murray took Federer apart....:p

Plus Ainslie in the Sailing.....

Rock on Team GB !!

Quite right! Honours are even at Wimbledon and a great day for Ben Ainslie! :D Pity about the Star Class (they seemed to forget about the Swedes) but you can't win em all!

Murray had me worried a couple of times, I really thought Federer was coming back, but he held his nerve and won convincingly!

As expected Roger Federer gracious in defeat - a true gentleman :p

Amazing in gymnastics - it is best to expect the unexpected anyone can fail to deliver on the day. The best Golds are in some ways the unexpected ones such as Brailsford in the Long Jump.

I hate it when the media put extra pressure on athletes by saying they should win Gold or are going to.

Still "Nostrabutts" got it wrong in my earlier prediction that team GB would fall short of Bejing performance - I am now predicting we will exceed it.

20 Golds + I am now confident of :p

Just wondered if anyone knows, can you visit the Olympic park.
During the Olympics and Paralympics access to the Olympic Park is only available to those holding a £10 Olympic Park day pass (now which have all sold out), or a session ticket for that day in the Olympic Park.

Just to look around I mean after the games are complete.
The first part of the Olympic Park won't open until 27 July 2013, and there will be continuing works after that date, for example, to built/convert homes and flats for occupation.

A silver for Murray/Robson in the mixed doubles, they lost 10-8 on a Champions' Tie Break after the match reached one set all.

I know Robson is young but she's pretty hopeless.

Actually, there aren't, it's the stupid website again.

Tickets for events may still become available.

Not all round hopeless but I've never seen anybody throw the ball up for service and stop so many times.
Her serve needs major work if she's going to progress.
The commentators tell us she's very young but Sharapova won Wimbledon at 17 , Boris Becker won at 17 , Rafa won the French at 18. She's got a lot of fast catching up to do to get to world class.

Does she? You've named three of the best tennis players possibly ever. Is Robson ever going to get that good? Perhaps not. But I'd say that she does in fact have plenty of time to become a good player, she's only eighteen. I'd note that another person who'd probably go down as one of the all time greats, Roger Federer, didn't win his first Slam until he was twenty two, four years older than Robson is now.

This isn't Gymnastics where a career is (normally) over by the time an athlete is twenty ;)

Give her another chance, she'll pull through. It probably didn't help that Murray was tired and his reactions were noticeably slower than hers. I just hope she can build on this instead of dwelling too much on the disappointment.

I complelty agree. As noted by many she is young (the third youngest female medallist in Olympic Tennis history in fact) and has plenty of time to become a force in Tennis. Personally I expect to see her in Rio looking to go one better in this event and to put in a better performance in the singles.

Is that more understandable for whichever mod deleted my original comment ;)

It's great to see Team GB doing well. I'm also following (being half Polish) the fortunes of Poland as well. They were some way behind Cuba, last time I looked at the medal table:lol: The only issue I have, with the celebrations, is why is it necessary to paint a post box (in medal winners localities) gold? It seems a waste of money. Also why should post offices in three locations in Cornwall open on a Sunday to sell commemorative stamps? Overkill? I'm all for commemorative stamps; but can't the Post Office wait, until 9am on Monday to sell them?

Absolutely chuffed with the fact that Murray got the better of Federer today in the Gold Medal Match, although it wasn't a Grand Slam it was still a 5 set match and represented Murray's first victory over him in 5 sets.

It's not often that you see perhaps the greatest player of all time be outclassed, even more so given that it's on Grass, but he was entirely gracious in defeat, a true gent.

Until Wimbledon, I had never seen Murray come out and be aggressive against guys like Federer and Djokovic. Sadly at Wimbledon it didn't quite pay off.

I was a little disappointed to see Murray and Robson come so close to winning the Gold in the mixed doubles. Robson was playing the game of her life at points, and looked the kind of player people are hoping she will become, as others have mentioned though, her serve does perhaps need a little work - especially in pressure situations when it tends to get a bit away from her.

Also gutted for the boys in the Star class, who looked like they were going to win the Gold whilst being in 5th with only 100m to go, only for opponents to catch a gust at the very end to power them over the line ahead of GB.

Big congratulations to Ben Ainslie on becoming the greatest ever Olympic sailor.

Congratulations also go out to the lads who won Silver and Bronze in the Pommel Horse final and to Ed Clancy on getting the Bronze in the Men's Omnium.

One more to equal Beijing and say it quietly but I think we might just beat that total.

Went to the basketball today (managed to obtain a ticket on Saturday night 8-))

It was great. We won, by quite a long way. A pity we didn't do so well in our other matches.

Stratford International isn't very organised for people who don't want to head to central London is it? Came out of the Games yesterday evening and followed the signs into the station. When I got there the only signs were point towards the London trains, so I had to ask someone. He said Platform 3, and sent me off down a corridor. Then I came across another sign, pointing to Platform 4, which just said "Kent" (a bit useless considering there's two different routes into Kent...). Now I was uncertain if that was the platform or not and if the other guy had got it wrong, so I asked someone else. They pointed me in the direction of Platform 3, where I caught my train
