Did you ever get round to writing up your Glasgow trip report?
I don't really write reports anymore.
But perhaps I'll give it a go again when I have the time.
Wednesday 3rd February, started the day on 450104, 450126 and 450029 to Clapham Junction and 377136 and 377137 round the bend into Victoria. The Vic line took us to Euston.
390131 was our train to Glasgow. I had a full breakfast on board, TT ONR NRN had Eggs Benedict. It was nice, bacon rather fatty though. Bacon rolls were handed out later in the journey. Good journey up there. My older brother (who doesn't like trains but was bribed to take us ) got us checked in to our hotel, then we took 320303, 320317, 334026, 334032 and 334025 chronologically to different stops along the Argyle line to Dumbarton Central.
I watched 318251/318265 take my brothers away to Balloch (TT-ONR-NRN wanted to get a 156 and this was the only way to get one) then I got a bus to a subway stop and bashed the subway. I spent about two hours on the subway which had some very thin island platforms... Smelt nasty too.
I went back to the hotel and watched TV for about half an hour and my brothers returned. TT-ONR-NRN couldn't be bothered to bring a coat and after being drenched in heavy rain while attempting to walk between Balloch and Arrochar and Tarbet, well - let's just say what with the water-flattened hair and irritated scowl of one of us we didn't look like twins anymore They took 156500, 320413 and 318257 back from A&T.
The next morning my brother went and did his own thing while TT and I did a bit more Subwaying then we took 318256 from Argyle St. to Glasgow Central, heading to Paisley Gilmour Street and back on 380116 and 314214. The Desiro was very nice, but TT-ONR-NRN wasn't too happy about getting on a 314/5 type train as he doesn't like them at all.
334013, 334007, 334035 & 334002 were bashed along the Argyle line then, with 320416 + 320417 taking us to Glasgow Queen St.
318250 to High Street, 334023 and 334006 to Easterhouse and 318270 to Balloch again.
320313 and 318252 coupled together took me back to Glasgow Central. Then it was Cathcart Circle bashing time with 314216, 314212 and 320320, plus a forgotten dud, to Motherwell.
318263 + 318268 took me to Hamilton and back when we took 390134 back to the King of Glasgow stations.
334013, 318267 + 318262, 320415 and finally 318260 + 320322 completed the day with a few final Argyle line trains then it was back on 390112 for a very pleasant afternoon tea and a very weeny evening meal service.
444033, 450076 and 450087 ended the trip.
There we go I've done it now!
No worries, just wondered
Very interesting report and well worth the wait. I didn't mean to force you to do it now, but I'm glad you did anyway. Yeah, the subway has it's "unique" smell. There's nothing to compare with a shoogle round the Subway.
I'm the complete opposite with the 314s and 380s, I love the former and loathe the latter.
Anyway, thanks for the update, a most enjoyable read
Thanks! I like 314s but one time some mean guy purposely closed the doors of a 314 style train and they closed and locked on TT-ONR-NRN so he doesn't like them
I see, well that explains his dislike of them. Is it wrong of me to find the incident mildly amusing?
No, I wasn't there but I bet it would have been funny
