Until the Mark 5a coaches have been accepted by leasing company and TPEXP they are the responsiblity of the builders (CAF) so at moment CAF are storing them in Anglesea etc. and operating test runs using Freighliner drivers. TPEXP are short of drivers due to training issues. On Sat/Sun between 2100 and 0510 9 trains were cancelled at Huddersfield mostly due to crewing issues. I understand that some drivers are refusing to work rest days.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but do the DTs have a class and numbers?

The Driving Trailers don't have a class as they are hauled coaching stock, but they are numbered in the series 12801 - 12814.

Presumably the rakes will have set numbers for maintenance and diagramming purposes - I've seen 'TP02' referred to on the previous page of this thread, but don't know if that'll be the official designation used.

Why should they work Rest days?

Rest day working should not be the norm. Employ more drivers but treat them better and they might stay at that TOC!!

Nice to see a Mk5 set actually out now. But training can only get worse with three brand new tractions to learn!

Does anyone ever use Deansgate? It's desolate. :)

There is something absolutely wonderfully "proper grown up train" about that.
The only time I ever see it busy is at the peaks, outside it's usually only a couple of people here and there.
I think I have only used it once from street entrance the rest of the time it has been making a connection over the handy footbridge onto the Metrolink platforms or vice versa.

Certainly the DVT looks a lot better in profile than from the front. No wonder they've never shown us the head-on view before.

There is a change of plan for tomorrow and the test train will be running to Carlisle instead of Bletchley
